Horrific Hump Day Haunters!!! Can you feel the crispness in the air yet? I can't. We're still flirting with the 90's here in California, but I am getting a bit giddy with all of the Hallowe'en decorations out in the stores. A little retail therapy really helped my mojo this week. I kinda went cwazy on this challenge. We are challenging you to make a Hallowe'en inspired scene for this week's Macabre Monday .  We are very fortunate to be sponsored by Make it Crafty .  We have some great prizes to award to this week's chosen Gruesome Twosome, so play along!! Since I am to lazy too make a step card, I decided to really make a labor intensive project using a thrift store frame, lots of card board, some MS punches, lots of glitter and Spica pens, and some awesome MIC digis!! Okay, first I painted the thrift store frame with black, silver, and  purple acrylic paints. I used black as the base coat and then used a dry brush technique to apply the silver and pur

The Mistress has a card today!!!  I know... un-freakin-believable. It's even for the current HDH107 Appalling Apothecary Macabre Monday challenge ! I am a bit of a cheater though.  This was actually done a couple of months ago!  ACK!  I know.  It was one of six cards I did for my Elegantly Eerie card class last week.  I had 25 people show for the class, and the three extra kits were gone by the time it was over!  Sah-weet!  I used all of Moxxie's new Midnight Dreary paper line... LOVE LOVE LOVE every single paper in that line! I will say that it took FOREVER to cut and punch all of the pieces for the kits.  I definitely don't make any for my time, which completely sucks.  BUT, I do enjoy teaching.  Here's another card from that class: Super easy, but I just couldn't bring myself to cover that beautiful house!  You can't see it here, but I ended up adding clear glitter pen over the eaves and the right side of roofs & projections...

Way Late Wretched Wednesday - Appalling Apothecary

Image
The Macabre Monday challenge here at HDH is Appalling Apothecary .   I have been compiling my own Apothecary collection on my mantle for about a year or so now. I have some antique books, some specimen bugs, candles, and creepy bits and bobs. I have taken pictures of my mantle before, so I wanted to show you something totally new. I got this awesome little cabinet for my birthday. My friends are finally catching on as to how easy I am to shop for. Thrift store finds are my favorites!!!  I took all nine of my Tim Holtz bottles and transformed them into various tinctures, poisons, and remedies. I printed out a bunch of poison labels I had been saving for just such a project. I glued them on the bottles and placed them on the shelves in an attractive manner.  I also added some of my miniature sculptures from my personal  collection to fill in the blank spots. If you are interested in some mini gourds of your own, please check out my Etsy shop . Uh oh! Someone left the lid off the Z

Better-late-than-never Birthday Bloghop...

Once again, a couple of us dropped the ball here at HDH and totally forgot one of the Minion's birthdays was yesterday.  Dammit!  Teri, please forgive us... at least you should be getting some guilt loot out of the deal, I'm sure!  I don't know Teri as well as I do Creepy Glowbugg, but here are a few highlights: Mythical Art Nouveau artistry: Ike's infamous Tilda Mince ... but then again, I think ALL of us enjoyed THAT one! 80's metal hair band, Whitesnake... here is a shot with their serious rocker faces on... even though one is in pink and another has fringed sleeves... very few can pull THAT off  :) Here is the green snakeskin dress that Teri wore (in our heads) to her last Whitesnake concert: Filigree pendant... not sure if Teri would like it, but it makes me think of her: Be sure to check back with the Minions throughout the day to see what they've posted on their blogs for the belated Birthday

...aka Creepy Glowbugg .   >:)   Just kidding! It IS true, though, that today our very own CreepyGlo turns... how old?  Oh!  Old. { sinister snickering in the background } I know... payback is a bitch.  But sometimes it is totally worth it ;)   I searched for a few images of things CG likes, or those that remind me of her: Skully Hello Kitty If this is a real game, I seriously need to find a Super Nintendo :) Mice Taxidermy - Ode to Halloween Jim Henson's Labyrinth puppets Classic horror movie monsters Seriously, we do love ya', CreepyGlo.  In addition to your mad skills with paper, ink, and polymer clay, your comic relief always makes us smile. :) See?   Thanks so much for all you do here at HDH, and for trying to keep me on track... THAT in itself is a full time job! I hope your day is a fantastic one!!

Fiendishly Fun Forty-something!

Image
Today is a special day in the Minion dungeon as the luscious Creepy Glowbugg is celebrating her birthday and we thought to celebrate we would share with you all some fiendishly fun offerings suitable for a birthday celebration. Like this Walking Dead cake, created by Sweets to the Sweet for the cast of the show. And some ideas to help you look your best for the party. Hide those bags under your eyes by using concealer. Or zippers. Of course the centrepiece on the table has to be something special, so we chose the "horror ceramic" by Jessica Harrison . And some Bloody Brain Shooters to wash down the cake, of course! And in honour of Glo's own wonderful skills in clay, we have a claymotion horror flick to enjoy after we've eaten all the cake and are sitting in the dark. This is Nightmare by Love Automatic . Glo, you are an absolute STAR and we're all so very thankful for all you do and are!

Wretched Wednesday - Seven Deadly Sins - Invidiousness

Image
Envy (also called invidiousness) is best defined as an emotion that  "occurs when a person lacks another's (perceived) superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it." This week's challenge  of The Seven Deadly Sins has proven to be just that, a challenge.  I have scrapped two projects already and am less than pleased with my current offering. I am being a weak ticket and I am offering up this stunning array of awesomeness to feast your eyes upon in an i nvidious manner.   I shall be farting my very own brand of bone dust this Friday, when I turn into a 'forty-something'. Boo hiss! This is a killer birthday gift sent from a dear friend, and  soul sistah Minion, Andrea . Can you feel the envy starting to creep in yet? Did you see the European Hello Kitty PEZ, complete with skully bow?! How about now? Any sign of envy yet? Check out these AMAZING embellies!!! All totally handmade and so detai
