Wicked Wednesday HDH087 Freaker's Free for All!!!

Image
This week's challenge is one of my favorites, Freaker's Free for all ! What this means at HDH is whatever bizarre, unsavory, unnerving, bit of strangeness you can muster, just might win you a title! If you have a project that doesn't really fit any other challenge blog criteria, we want you!! That being said, I have a couple of (finally) finished projects to share with you. I have added more gourds to my garden. I love the "Fairy Tale" punkins and always make a mummy or Jack Skellington every year out of their sickly white flesh. More happy Jacks awaiting a new home. New listings are going up today/tomorrow on Etsy .  The sTeaMpUnKinS are all fired up and ready to start chugging along towards Autumn. And finally, my lovely cherubs . I am so stoked with how these turned out! I know they are a bit offensive when my husband (is that thumping I hear?) is not a fan! Yeah! Mission accomplished!! Aww! Isn't he just an angel ? So, I'm thinking lapel pins...

Halloween Events in Florida...

Image
Ok.  I am totally jealous of those who live in Florida... well, at least for the month of October :)  The Seminole Casino Coconut Creek is having a ton of events, my favorite being held on October 16th:   A meet & greet with a couple of the True Blood cast members!  The main focus for me would be Joe Manganiellio who plays "Alcide" ... yum!   SCCC will also be having a pumpkin carving contest , costume contests , AND... are you ready for this... a meet & greet with Linda Blair !  Yep, the horror flick queen herself.  Check out dates & more events below (click on photo to enlarge): Seminole Casino Coconut Creek is hosting a prize giveaway on Haunted Design House!   Though it's not Halloweenie, these little babies will come in handy... SCCC is providing three car charger USB drives ! Pretty sweet, right?  So, wanna know how you can possibly get your mitts on one of these?  All you have to do is become an HDH f...

Bat House by Oz

Image
Check out the awesomeness that is Macabre Mistress Oz !  I LOVE this Bat House ... no bird should venture too close, that's for sure :)   See below for the details for this fabulous project! Not every neighborhood can afford a 2-story bat house, but then not most would not consider us "every" neighborhood! This little sweetly shingled bat house is ooze-ing with details. From the top of it's cresent moon weather vane to the bottom of it's iron grated platform.  The patterned paper is from Graphic 45. I stamped a woodgrain design on kraft cardstock for the shingles. The misc pumpkin buttons are all from my stash I had lurking around. I do so hope you ENJOY!  ~ Linda aka Oz Fantastic work as always, my friend!

Creepy here....

Image
Greetings! Creepy Glowbugg here with a card sample for this week's Macabre Monday, "Freaker's Free-for-All" challenge. This is the card I made in my head for last week's "Wacko Jack-os" Macabre Monday. As usual, I never actually made the card, until a week later. I really wanted to try this technique with Stazon, acetate, Glossy Accents, and glitter. This is the end result. I love it! I am all about the sparkly colors! I made a few pieces while I was on a roll, so you can expect to  see more of this technique very soon. Can I just say that YouTube is a real fount of crafter info. I found out how to make my own glimmer sprays and stamp cleaner, not to mention a million new techniques to try. Priceless knowledge. Hope this inspires you to play along this week, and maybe even try a new technique (I'm a poet and didn't know it!). Thank you to Barb, the Mistress of the Macabre herself,  for inviting me and the other 'minions' to be a part of ...

Whoops! My bad...

Image
... I TOTALLY freakin' forgot to share some of my favorite carved pumpkins! I'll admit it, these are those fake hobby store pumpkins & the patterns are from those carving booklets that are aplenty around October.    BUT I DID carve them myself... does that count?  I just couldn't bear having to take the many hours of carving a real pumpkin so intricately only to watch him rot away (although I REALLY do like how they look rotten!!). The top one is a haunted house (hard to tell in this pic), spider next, and the bottom one was made with stencil shapes from Martha Stewart. This one is really big and has three faces all "welded" together:  a screaming ghoul, a skelly/reeper, & Dracula on the right.  I had one of those blinking lights in the damn thing, so this was the best picture I could get... the three faces wrap over half-way around the pumpkin. I just LOVE pumpkins... really I do.

HDH046 Wacko Jacko's... done!

Image
Well it took me until tonight, but I did my own challenge!  And check it... two posts in the same day !  I'll wait a moment while you haul you fanny back into your chair... ... ... ... :) Soooooooo back to the wacked jacked card for this evening.  I apologize right now for the beyond crappy photos.  Obviously if the sun isn't shining & I have to shoot them under my OTT light, ALL IS SUCKY .  I even played with the color balance in PhotoShop... of which I know just enough to be dangerous. BUT I can tell you that in real life, this is pretty cool... IF I do say so myself.  Do ya' think I got enough jacko's??  I have a couple more, but me thinks this should do :) Me likey the dimension to this bad boy... I used foam tape & pop dots to vary the heights of the jacko's.  I also used two different orange cardstocks & white... not diggin' the white... made the orange WAY too freakin' bright {hey... that rhymed! :)} Stamp companie...

HDH025 - PumpkinRot Inspiration

Image
Well, my little pretties... this is what I came up with for the HDH025 Eerie Inspiration challenge.  I didn't use a lot of bells & whistles on this one... just ink & cardstock!    I added a bit o' drab color with some Copic markers, but the real kicker to this one is that the scene was created with three different stamps.  Stamp It Crazy 's wicked-cool skelly witch stamp ( HAL35 ), the tree is from Stamp Oasis , and the haystack & grass is  from an unknown stamp I bought at a convention.  The sentiment is from TAC 's Happy Haunting . I also wanted to show what Terra is getting as a prize for the January 2010 Master of the Macabre honor.  Sweet, right?  Yep, Oz donated this bit o' goodness, too!  Isn't she the best?!  I know!  Hey, Terra ... you still need to send me your address, baby ;)

Ghoulish gourds all in a row...

Image
I thought I'd share another little treat project today.  How cute is this little row of pumpkins?!  It's very basic and super easy to make, and I'll be selling a few of these at an upcoming craft fair.  Sorry about the photos... it was cloudy when I snapped them. I created a little accordian-folded divider so that the little guys wouldn't move around in the box.  May I just say:  the Scor-Pal makes crafty life so easy sometimes!  I created a template, however it is not to scale... but it is so seriously easy you can just line it up on the SP and go to town: This box feels nice and sturdy because I have an extra side piece that folds over... this also creates a nice finished top edge.  I did trim a smidgen off of the outer piece that folds over and in so it would fit correctly.  The acetate lid is created with the same box bottom template, except omit the two outer 1" x 5-1/4" sections.  I just used a mini glue dot to secure each flap s...

Tissue-Paper-Mache Gourds

Image
This isn't extremely Halloweenie, but a fun project nonetheless ;)  I followed ( sorta ) Martha Stewart's instructions to make this tissue paper mache pumpkin.  Basically, you use a balloon as a form, layer tissue paper with diluted Mod Podge, and let dry overnight.  Pop the balloon and remove.  Martha used her's as votive holders, if I remember correctly... I'm going off memory, so I'm sure I left some info out ;)  Let's just say, it would be WAY freakin' easier to do this project with two people... it took forever on my own, and it was probably messier, too. I punched a flower and cut it apart to use as leaves and rolled up some kraft packing paper and glued it for a stem.  A little Scrapper's Floss for the stem tendrils... perfect touch! I modified it a little and TRIED to create one of the striped green gourds.  I'm not sure how it's workin'.  To do this one, I under-inflated one of those long skinny balloons... it was trickie...

My bad...

...no, I haven't done my challenge card yet.  I KNOW!  I am such a slacker... but, to make it up to you I will show you this little ditty. Cute, no?  This was a submission to TAC for publication consideration, but they used my other one instead... yeay!  I'll show that one to you sometime as well. Stamps:  Spookilicious Paper:  Penelope, white UltraSmooth & black cardstocks Ink:  Palette Noir Other:  paper piercer, mineral oil w/ Prismacolors, Black Scrapper's Floss Who says you have to use the whole image of a stamp, right?  Kinda looks like a window... or maybe it's like the opening credits of the Brady Bunch: Here's the story of a wicked witchy, Who was boiling up one very goofy skelly. He was green and white, like no other, The bow tie looks 'nelly'. Here's the story, of a scared black kitty, Who was busy with two jack-o's of his own. They were orange, and kinda silly, Yet they were all alone... I know... it's h...
