Simply Betty Saturday

Yes, I know that this card isn't too creepy, BUT I'm showing it anyway :) This is one of the new digi's called Summer Christian... from the My Kids Emo World Summer Edition line from SBS.  We all know my take on the whole summer season from last time, BUT Christian is such a cool dude... perfect for those tweens & teens... Hell, who am I kidding, this image works for "adults" too.  :)  I know several 30-40 year-old male teenagers, don't you?  ;)  I know... I'm married to one! Digi:   Summer Christian Rubber Stamp:  retired TAC sentiment Paper:  Bazzill greens, Neenah white, TAC black, kraft packing paper Ink:   VersaFine Onyx Other:  fish net, EK Success edger punches, bat brad (MM), bat trim (May Arts), metal star button (unknown) Copics:   0, BV20, E000, E00, E02, E11, 31, E35, E57, G21, G24, G28, V99, YR20, YR23, YR24  Christian DOES have bats on his shorts, so it adds just a touch o' the creepy.  I accented with a couple of little

Fiendishly Fun Friday - Salem's Lot revisited...

Image
Ok, was it just me, or did this mini-series / movie scare the holy bejeezus out of you as a kid?  That crazy looking vampire with those wicked knarly teeth (and I don't mean knarly in a GOOD way...)!   Evidently I missed the remake with Rob Lowe... ummm... was it any good? I also remember my sisters reading the book back in the day... Go HERE for a movie & book summary.

Fiendishly Fun Friday - Lenore

I love Lenore, here's a link to the film/cartoon/video/fantabulously-freaksome-awesomeness that is THE NEW TOY Be warned, this is probably not for the squeamish. But then if you're squeamish then you're probably lost, run, quick, before Barb finds you and locks you away in her Closet of Cute. Seriously, with the amount of locks and chains and iron bars on that door, ain't no cute getting out here :P

Fiendishly Fun Friday : Transformer Owl

Found this on YouTube. Mother nature is a crazy lady.

I normally try NOT to pimp myself out, but...

... this time I'm gonna make an exception :)  Most of you know that I am also an independent consultant for The Angel Company.  Well, a few of us Angels got together and came up with a few different Copic Clubs and I am here to spread the word. {insert evil winky grin here} Please pop over to my "normal" blog HERE for details. Thanks, I now return you to your regular(?) creepy programming...

A couple of creepy crawlies for you today...

Joy.  I finished my HDH049 Macabre Monday card last night... and NOT without difficulty, I might add.  I will suggest to you that if you want to cover Grunge Paper with patterned paper, do it PRIOR to die-cutting it :)  Yes, I thought it would be easy to just glue it on after... notsomuch. The plan was to Glimmer Mist the GB so that the grey wouldn't show on the edges... but the mist would probably cause issues with the patterned paper, so THAT'S why I tried it.  I had heated the GB after misting because I am too impatient to wait for it to dry on it's own... it changed shape and shrunk in one direction.  Yeah... totally eff'd up... JUST so you know.  :)  So I just ripped the paper off, sprayed & inked the back and used it anyway... paperless.  Worked out ok, me thinks. Stamps:   skull (Artful Illusions), web (Inkadinkado) Paper:  GrungePaper (Tim Holtz), black & premium white cardstocks (TAC) Ink:   Tuxedo Memento , Moonlight White Brilliance , French Lil

La la la la la la Lola...

Image
All in green :)  I know that this Simply Betty's line of stamps is called "My Kids Emo World"... but I decided to give Lola a bit of gray hair today :)   This is the first time I've colored her up, and I must say that straight hair is hard!  No hiding mistakes in a lock of curls or anything... dammit.  So needless to say, the back of this image panel looks as colorful as the front... lots and lots of marker ink and it still isn't fabulous.  BUT practice is the key, right?! I am sooooooo diggin' the eyes, though.  I probably should have added some Glossy Accents to them, but I didn't... they look glossy already, don't they?  I love how Betty's stamp artist added eyeball highlight areas to help you color :) Stamps:  Lola (SBS), sentiment/box (Studio G) Paper:  white (Neenah & PTI), black (TAC), green (DCWV) cardstocks Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Other:  texture plate (PTI), white pen (Signo), Stardust silver glitter pen, metal trim (JoAnn'

.introduce you to The Sisterhood of the Sinister ... Haunted Design House's very own Macabre Minions ! {trumpets sounding: doot doot doot doooooot} wait a sec... ... ... {maybe it should be shrieking screams instead?} ':) At any rate, here they are! Lynx {Sultana of the Sinister & Macabre Mistress} I'm also known as Blackdragon because I ALWAYS wear black and adore dragons.  I love darker art, but not the gorey stuff.  I have a warped sense of humour, and love to have inky fingers.  I am known to have an artistic flair and create detailed scenic pieces that tell a story. I am one busy mum of three hailing from the UK.  When I've got a free moment between the kids & oldies, I am busy creating work for the five other design teams of which I am part and I am hoping to open an Etsy shop very soon!  I was very proud when Barb made me one of the two Macabre Mistresses, along with the wonderful Oz. Merry Freakin' Christmas...

Image
Ahhh... the holidays... HDH style `:) Yes, the endless pursuit to get the winter cards done before the spring thaw... I've been pretty good the last two years, but I'm waaaay behind this year.  Yes, I know... it's only July... but I just don't like doing 150 cards that all look alike... you know what I'm sayin'? Sooooooo, for my very special friends, I get to make doosies like this one!  They make me happy... in a twisted, demented, totally WTF kinda way :) What spurned this bit of happiness today?  Two challenges... and they're not even mine!  I know... I'm totally psyched (no, not psycho... well, not really)    :)  There are probably more challenges to which this little baby would apply, but I'm just stickin' with these two: Stampotique (Christmas in July) The Burtonesque Dolls (Nightmare Before Christmas) I started with the Tickled Pink sketch, but strayed too far AND I didn't realize I had to use certain available stamps, so I'

An oldie... but goodie

The Oz is slowly working up some magic for us, but until all of the chemo is out of the way, we will have to be content with this bit o' beautimous-ness from a few months back... check THIS out!!  Love love LOVE it!  I'm so glad she reminded us of it {sigh}  :)  Big hug, Oz!

This could be some fun, kids....

Right?  Now cross your fingers to see if I can get something done in time for it!! Go HERE for details on how to join the fun.

Creepy here....

Image
Greetings! Creepy Glowbugg here with a card sample for this week's Macabre Monday, "Freaker's Free-for-All" challenge. This is the card I made in my head for last week's "Wacko Jack-os" Macabre Monday. As usual, I never actually made the card, until a week later. I really wanted to try this technique with Stazon, acetate, Glossy Accents, and glitter. This is the end result. I love it! I am all about the sparkly colors! I made a few pieces while I was on a roll, so you can expect to  see more of this technique very soon. Can I just say that YouTube is a real fount of crafter info. I found out how to make my own glimmer sprays and stamp cleaner, not to mention a million new techniques to try. Priceless knowledge. Hope this inspires you to play along this week, and maybe even try a new technique (I'm a poet and didn't know it!). Thank you to Barb, the Mistress of the Macabre herself,  for inviting me and the other 'minions' to be a part of

New Simply Betty July Release Preview!

Ok, I'll admit it... I am NOT a Summer kinda gal.  Summertime for me usually involves sunburn, bugs & heat exhaustion... yeah... not really up my alley :)  So what is fabulous about THIS Summer?   Summer Fun My Kids Emo World digi stamps   ... that's what!  This is Summer Christian ... is he not just the most laid back dude?  Reminds me a bit of a young Matthew McConaughey... minus the abs :)  And he is so much fun to color... from the surfboard all the way to the key lime cocktail! Yesterday, a few of the Simply Betty Stamps DT showed off London, Christian, Miller, Lola, & Rio ala Summer Fun, and if you missed them, be sure to check out this SBS blog post !  Bookmark that site, because today & tomorrow will be more previews and then THURSDAY is the big day... tune in to the SBS blog for a RELEASE DAY blog hop   for a chance to win the entire release! :)   Digi:  Summer Christian (available soon at SBS !)
