Gruesome Twosome and some more Hitchcockiness

Image
Today marks the opening of the "Suspense and Gallows Humor" art showing at Gallery1988 in L.A. I wish I still lived in Southern California. I just liked how timely this opening is to our Macabre Monday challenge this week. Now I would like to announce our GTs from our "Off with their heads!" challenge. Cgra and Nancy W and the winner of the $15 store credit for The Octopode Factory is... Mary Kay   Please contact Donna here to claim your prize! Congratulations to all of this week's winners and thank you to everyone who joined in on our madness last week. I think there is still time to get busy on something Hitchcock inspired for this week's challenge too! "I am a typed director. If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately be looking for a body in the coach." - Alfred Hitchcock

Wretched Wednesday - Can I quote you on that?

Image
Welcome to another Wretched Wednesday !! Up first are last week's chosen ones, the Gruesome Twosome for the Evil Empire challenge. Congratulations to Crom and Kristy Lee I know both of you ladies already have the badge so, thank you for playing and we look forward to seeing what creations you will come up with next. This week's challenge is all about quotes . I am a big fan of the written word and I really enjoy a good, thought provoking, or witty little quip worth repeating. In my head, that's a good quote. I have a couple of books of quotations and many notebooks of quotes that I have enjoyed and jotted down over the years. Mae West was always good for a smart citation. I chose just one of her many zings, and matched it with this great zombie chick from Simply Betty's PCP site . I decided to keep the colors bright and cheery to give it a springtime feel despite the bloody connotations. I had so much fun with this one, that I may just h...

Love Lies Bleeding GTs

Image
Betcha thought I forgot all about naming the Gruesome Twosome from last week huh? Well, I did. But now the winners get a post all to themselves.   The chosen two for last week's Love Lies Bleeding challenge are:   Mary K Such a gorgeously hand drawn image. (If you watched Ink Master last night, then you know how hard it is to draw a proportioned hand.)   And,   Crom's Cubby Hole Neat little ATC sized "meander" book of verses from " Annabel Lee"  , and wonderful images of Poe and his love.   So beautifully tragic and haunting. Thank you ladies, for your stunning submissions.  Take your badge and love it and squeeze it and call it George. Thank you to everyone who took the time to play along with our challenging challenge last week. We really appreciate the time you give to the projects you submit to us. They are all classy bits of art in their own right, which makes it increasingly hard to choose the winners each week....

Wretched Wednesday - Shot through the Heart

Image
First off, I'd like to thank everyone for playing along with last week's challenge. It's nice to be challenged to think outside of our usual boxes sometimes isn't it? This week's chosen Gruesome Twosome for the Get Lost! challenge are: Jane   Gorgeously aged with a group favorite, mythical beast. And... Sue Really unique and beautiful, and ... bloody . Please grab your badge and fly that freak flag high!! Here is my submission for this week's Shot Through the Heart challenge. I am on a Dilly Beans kick lately. I am loving this Sugar Skull . The images are so fun and easy to color, plus they lend themselves to so many occasions. I used a couple of Spellbinder hearts and cut the middle out of one to represent the hole in the challenge. I popped the skull out of the hole using dimensional dots. I added some die cut flourishes, corner accents and a glittered chip board love and a heart to try and balance it all out. Please join us for t...

Wretched Wednesday - Got Goth?

Image
Ahhhh, the smell of damp, fetid earth and the slick feel of a yet to be determined globulus muck! It's good to be back! The gates to the Haunted Design House are open for business!  Kicking the year off in traditional HDH style, the challenge is, " Got Goth? ". Nice and easy... but don't get used to it! Here is my submission. It's good to be back at it again! I can feel the 'ol mojo warming up! Okay, I started off with some really cool laced dp, but can't remember who it's by (Barb?).  I used some long hoarded real lace trim from Wild Orchid  along the bottom.    This awesome image is called, Tad Batty by  Terra Bidlespacher for Sweet Pea Stamps . I added a big vellum moon as the backdrop for the image. I used Sparkling Silver mist to add texture and some dimension to the moon. I had some chipboard flourishes from a year or two ago that matched the color scheme and give the illusion of vegetation. I finally got to use my MS skul...

2011 Mutinous Monday #001

Image
That's right folks... it's the first Mutinous Monday from the Macabre Minions!  The Minions need a little R&R and have declared mutiny until 2012, so no challenge this week... but I still wanted to give you a little sumpin' sumpin' to satiate your HDH appetite :) I even posted on my "normal" blog last night if you want more mainstream :)  Yes... I've been busy.  Anyway, back to a little wickedness... First up, the last couple of cards from my Halloween card class back in September: You can't tell, but there is some DELIGHTFULLY sinful, black-velvet crocheted trim from May Arts on the tag... yummy.  And of course, more of that awesome Midnight Dreary line of paper from Moxxie:  Tomb it May Concern & Dead on Arrival .  I rolled a paper rose and finished it off with a dew drop center... LOVE it. Quite elegant, no?  The top half of this 12x12 paper has a pinkish hue and blended together with the bottom half's greenish hue.  The salmon...
