Mutinous Monday...

Just a few more weeks and the Minions will be back!  Until then, here is a little sumpin' sumpin' from the Mistress:

All of the stamps used here are/were from The Angel Company.  I cut up a large collage stamp that had a vintage chick on it with a totally f'd up face... the border and the sentiment was pretty cool, so viola!  I even did a little heat embossing on this baby.

I paper-pieced the chair fabric for a little POP o' color... regal purple... mmmmmmm... this makes me think of True Blood's former King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington for some reason.

(image borrowed from Google Images)
Though Russell was not a looker (helloooooo Eric... I miss you), he definitely had that royal air about him.  Not to mention his style of furnishings:

Anyway... back to the grind... I need to work on my class samples, but I'm probably just going to veg in front of the tv.  Gotta work at the Evil Job tomorrow... dammit.

Question of the day:  Why can't someone just pay me to HDH all day?  (sigh)

Vampire Friendly Greetings / HDH113

I have been trying all week long to make something
uber creative and awesome for the final challenge of October
here at Haunted Design House.

The challenge is "Heinously Haunted Houses".
I live in a house that I have decorated and staged to
give the appearance of hauntedness all year long.
I prefer, "Apothecary Chic".

Just your everyday mantle decor.

The framed print is one of my newest acquisitions.
It is a signed and numbered print from the brilliant artist,

It is a painting of a Skeksis from The Dark Crystal.
Mmmmmm? Hmmmm?
I adore this piece!

I did try to create some really cool houses from wood,
but they turned to crap in my hands.
I think my mojo has left the building.

So I returned to a project I was working on earlier this
year, but never got around to actually finishing.

A nice little "Welcome" plaque for your foyer or front door.

This is a completely handmade plaque.
The coffin shape is cut from MDF board, and then sanded and
base coat painted with black acrylic.

I then hand sculpted a Vampyr skull out of polymer clay
to embellish the plaque.

I also fashioned a fang from poly clay and added it to the piece as well.
I am pretty happy with how it turned out, but that hand painting of the
swirls and the "Velcome" was a serious challenge for me.
I guess I need to paint free hand more for the practice.
I do plan to make more and put some for sale in my Etsy shop.

Thanks for sticking with me this long.
I will be back with new projects in the coming days/weeks,
as the Minions are taking a well deserved break from the weekly
challenges here at HDH, to focus on new projects for the coming Hexmas
Please still drop by the HDH blog on Mondays to see what type of
Mutiny the Minions have cooked up all on their own!
Mutinous Mondays from here on out, until the new year.

Spooky Diva digi...

Remember these cards?

I had several people inquire about the stamp that I had used... it was retired.  Guess what?  You can now buy the whole set of 6 stamps as digital images for only $3.75!  No, I'm not getting paid to do this, but I thought y'all would like to know... I'm nice like that ;)

They are at Digi Design House (no, I am not affiliated) right HERE.

If you DO pop over there to purchase, please drop me an email.  I had asked them to re-release this set, so I'm curious to see how popular it will be!

SBS Burton 'Weenies Preview Day 5... Harley

Day 5 of previews for a new line of Simply Betty Stamps images... The Burton 'Weenies.  You'll have a chance to win these great images as clear stamps... just hop over to The Burtonesque Dolls blog for all of the details!

Today's you get a double whammy... Jack Jack & Harley:

This duo of doom was just begging to be Halloweenied-out.  I dug out my old Basic Grey Eerie 6x6 paper pad and found this loverly orange skully paper... LOVE!

I die-cut the image panel with a Nestie label die & then free-hand cut the black mat... holy shee-ite that took awhile to get just right :P  The sentiment is from a retired TAC sentiment set.  I even used up a scrap of ribbon and finished it all off with a little black twine.  Their hair looks awesome in person, but you can't really tell in these photos.  Trust me >:)

Tomorrow is the final day with my FAVORITE image and card of the entire line... and don't forget to pop by TBD blog for all of the details, and to see the DT's work!

SBS Burton 'Weenies Preview Day 4... Raven

Day four of previews for a new line of Simply Betty Stamps images... The Burton 'Weenies.  You'll have a chance to win these great images as clear stamps... just hop over to The Burtonesque Dolls blog for all of the details!

Today's image is the probably the edgiest one of the bunch... Raven:
Yeah, me thinks I wouldn't want to piss her off too much ;)  You can't see it very well, but I used the MS Drippy Goo punch again in the lower left... a lovely black ribbon rose & I got the Copic airbrush out again.  This time I used the brush tip instead of the chisel tip to get a bigger & bolder splatter effect.

Check out those piercings... uh, ouch?  I passed out when I got my tattoo years ago and am freakishly weird about needles, so I can't even imagine getting pierced like they do now.  See, I've told you before that I am a princess ;)

"If you can't say something nice...then at least have the decency to be vague."  LOVE it.  It's from a TAC sentiment set called Laugh Lines. There are quite a few little gems in there :)

Tomorrow is another preview, and then Friday is the final preview and release day, so be sure to check back... and don't forget to pop by TBD blog for all of the details, and to see the DT's work!

A Celebratory Romp...

... sounds kinda dirty, doesn't it?  ;)  MUCH more fun than just a mere birthday bloghop, no?  Me & a couple of the Minions are doing a little Fiendishly Festive Friday Frolic to honor the Devious Digital Demoness' birthday today, Susan!  Susan does SO much for HDH, from writing up the challenge posts, to finding WONDERFUL little gems for Fiendishly Fun Fridays, to cracking us up with comments and suggestions.  We love ya' baby!

I know this little card isn't much, and of course you won't be receiving it in the mail today, but you will eventually!  I had hoped to create some bit of awesomeness like Creepy Glowbugg, but time once again slipped away from me... and she has all of that natural talent an all :P

All of the stamps are from The Angel Company, Palette inks, EK Success edger punch, Cricut diecut fence & of course... Stickles.  Susan loves purple and sparkly things, so there you go :)

Happy Birthday, Susan!  I hope today  is as awesome as you are!

Now, if you'd like to see what some of the others have made for Susan:

Macabre Monday HDH074 - Angels and Demons

HDH Macabre Monday Rules:
1. Create a dark and macabre SOMETHING (card, scrap page, altered item, whatever) that follows the specific Macabre Monday challenge given. Cutesy is fine, but creepy is better :)
2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here. Please make sure that your blog post / upload has been made AFTER the challenge date... we wanna see fresh stuff, not those from a few weeks ago!!
3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH074.
4. Weekly giveaways! Some weeks will be loaded with loot, others not-so-much... but the thrill is in the win, right?! Some prizes shall be by random drawing, others hand picked... and I'm not telling you ahead of time :)
5. We'll be selecting a weekly Gruesome Twosome (our top two favorite creations) from all the players. At the end of every month these will be compiled and a Master of Macabre will be selected and will receive a little giftie from me... this could be stamp sets, handmade items, papers, halloweenie embellishments... you just never know.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:

Angels and Demons
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based project using angelic products or images and creeping them out as only HDHers can!

We can't wait to see what you come up with this week :D
Our very own Masterful Mistress of the Macabre, Barb, is offering up some goodies from The Angel Company to the winner, and the Minions have all created their bits using TAC products.

Macabre Mistress Lynx:

Fabulous mini... can't wait to know what Lynx will be jotting down in this little baby :) Lynx worked with the Willoughby paper & ribbon collections and the Damask Backgrounder stamp set.

Creepy Cricut Cween Donna:
Beautiful card, Donna! LOVE all of the layers, and your coloring of the Stamp Insanity digi is awesome :) Donna used the Winchester paper & ribbon collections for this beauty.

Digital Demon-ess Susan:
Eerily somber & beautiful digital work from Susan! You know I love purple :) Susan used one of the free paper downloads from TAC's main website.

Smudgetastic Andrea:
Lovely little distressed number here! Andrea used the Penelope paper & ribbon collections, Edge Designs stamp set, and beautiful steampunk digi from SBS.

Chaotic Creepy Glowbugg:

Don't you LOVE the snarky sentiment?!  And that Stampotique image is a perfect pairing for it.  Glo is showcasing the Winchester papers & ribbons, and the Laugh Lines stamp set.

And though we'll formally introduce her later this week, along with her HDH title, check out who has joined our hoard!!

Teri:
We are THRILLED that Teri decided to join our motley crew! And me thinks she'll be forcing me to step up my game... she does gorgeous work!
Teri is showcasing a few of her own darkly angelic digis from Delicious Doodles.

Be sure to check out the Minions' blogs for more photos & description... they are all a beautifully dark inspiration :)

My bad...

...no, I haven't done my challenge card yet.  I KNOW!  I am such a slacker... but, to make it up to you I will show you this little ditty.

Cute, no?  This was a submission to TAC for publication consideration, but they used my other one instead... yeay!  I'll show that one to you sometime as well.

Stamps:  Spookilicious

Paper:  Penelope, white UltraSmooth & black cardstocks

Ink:  Palette Noir

Other:  paper piercer, mineral oil w/ Prismacolors, Black Scrapper's Floss

Who says you have to use the whole image of a stamp, right?  Kinda looks like a window... or maybe it's like the opening credits of the Brady Bunch:
Here's the story of a wicked witchy,
Who was boiling up one very goofy skelly.
He was green and white, like no other,
The bow tie looks 'nelly'.

Here's the story, of a scared black kitty,
Who was busy with two jack-o's of his own.
They were orange, and kinda silly,
Yet they were all alone...
I know... it's horrible... but creative writing was NOT my forte!

9.04.2009

More cuteness... ugh!

;) Seriously, I just wanted to share one of the new Halloweenie stamp sets available from TAC. I was lucky enough to be asked to submit samples for their latest publication: Inspiration Avenue, and this is one that made it in!!

Yep... CUTE! I stamped & colored the witchie, masked her off and sponged the moon, grass & sky. I paper pieced her little skirt and then added some shadows to her & the sentiment with a q-tip.

Got out the ol' sewing machine and stitched a couple of edges of patterned paper after distressing them. Add some sheer ribbon & a glittery plastic spider and... voila!

Stamps: Spooky Girls, Happy Haunting

Paper: Penelope SWIC, White UltraSmooth & Penelope cardstocks

Ink: Landscape, Violette, Starry Night & Noir Palettes, Purple Hydrangea Versamagic (I think!)

Other: Penelope Ribbon, PrismaColor pencils w/ mineral oil, glittery spider

I'll be sharing a few more cute ones over the next several posts, so I hope that's ok ;)

Boo Sprite Boy... Mojo Monday Sketch

You knew this one was comin', right? He's freakin' cute, Yo! :) As soon as I saw this little dude in the new TAC catalogue, I wanted to give him a spider yo-yo... that's just how I roll :)

I saw the Mojo Monday #94 sketch and really liked it, so I started grabbing trims and halloweenie cardstocks and started layering. No patterned paper!

Stamps: Victorian Elements, Spunky Sprite Boys, Happy Haunting, Punk Princess (retired)

Paper:
Basic Black & Olive cardstocks, Premium White, Bazzill Mono-Yellow Oranges, Mulberry Meadow cardstock (purpl
e - retired)

Ink:
Burnt Umber & Noir Palettes, Moonlight White Brilliance, VersaMark

Other:
Pop dots, Prismacolors w/ mineral oil, foam tape, distresser, misc. trims, Creative Cafe button, orange blingy

It kinda looks a little busy, but I really wanted to use my new brocade stamp on a creepy card :) I stamped the boy on the white panel and then colored it in with a black marker... this gives a great shadow around the image after it is up on pop dots!

What is that little orange blingy, you ask? JoAnn's had these flip-flop adhesive jewels for half off... I grabbed the orange & black set immediately... me thinks I should go back for more :)

You should totally check out Mojo Monday's sketch... it was a fun one!
