HDH Macabre Monday Rules: 1 . Create a dark and macabre SOMETHING (card, scrap page, altered item, whatever) that follows the specific Macabre Monday challenge given. Cutesy is fine, but creepy is better :) 2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here. 3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.) , please tag the title using HDH054 . 4. Weekly giveaways! Some weeks will be loaded with loot, others not-so-much ... but the thrill is in the win, right?! Some prizes shall be by random drawing, others hand picked... and I'm not telling you ahead of time :) 5. I'll be selecting a weekly Gruesome Twoso me (my top two favorite creations) from all the players. At the end of every month these will be compiled and a Master of Macabre will be selected and will receive a little giftie from me... this could be stamp sets, handmade items, papers, halloweenie embellis...

HDH053 - Pink on the Brink...

Image
... on the brink of being finished?  Nope, not even close.  I sat down last night to start my challenge card, got impatient, didn't let my ink dry long enough, and poof... smeared.  So, I went ahead and played around with the color combo that I WOULD have used for my challenge card... which will not be done.  That's right... I'm a quitter.  : P I do have a good excuse... kinda.  I worked 7 days in a row without any time off and it totally sapped my creative mojo-ness.  I'm hoping that today, while I'm giving some coloring pointers to a buddy of mine, my mojo will creep back to me.  Wish me luck! Stamp:  Perfect Poison (Kraftin' Kimmie); Paper:  Neenah; Ink:  Memento Tuxedo; Copics:  RV10, RV13, RV14, C5, V99, YG11, YG13, YG17 Good news:  I have all of the prize packs except for last week's and this week's ready to go postal tomorrow!  And I'll announce the Stamp It Crazy challenge winners this week, and MAYBE ...

Fiendishly Fun Friday - Vintage family albums

Image
Ever seen a Victorian photograph and thought that something looked "off" about the person? Well, "mourning photography" was very popular. Most people couldn't afford to have photos of even special occasions like birthdays or weddings, but because the technology was available, they did want a life-like picture with which they could remember loved ones. Once the loved one had died, there seemed to be a "Well, it's now or ever" attitude, and people would have photographs taken of their recently deceased relatives. Because many people wanted these photographs to be as life-like and natural as possible (Someone should have written a pamphlet: To make your photographs appear as life-like as possible, take while subject is actually still alive), corpses would be posed, and pupils were often painted on to closed eyes. Here are some wonderfully unsettling examples: This fireman, at first glance, looks relatively normal. But zoom in on his face and . . . The...

HDH052 - Graveyard step card

Image
Freakin' finally , right?  I stayed up late last night finishing this little baby off.  I've seen step cards around for awhile now, and just never tried one out... this HDH052 challenge gave me the perfect reason to do one :)  I mean, sometimes it's tough to get three or more images on one card unless you have just a little bit more room to work with :) Have I told you lately that I LOVE my MS grass border punch?!  I think that is clear on this little graveyard scene! I stamped the iron gate on a transparency and then glued it at the bottom & covered it with another grass strip to conceal it.  Works well me thinks! I'm not sure you can tell, but there are a bunch of little stars in the night sky that I made with a glitter pen. How do you like the kitty hiding behind the grass?  That would be a " whoopsie-turned-wonderful ".  I took a marker to color the white around his whiskers green, so that it would blend a bit.  UGH!  Do NOT...

It's that time again... Simply Betty Stamps blog has got a new challenge for the month!  Yeah, you have a whole month to come up with a card for a chance to be a Guest Designer!  And as a Guest Designer, you'll be able to get your grubby mitts on new release images before anyone else... for free... that's what I'm talkin'bout :) Let me start by saying this:  they don't call them CHALLENGES for nothing.  Yikes.  I'm not really a "bright and colorful" kinda girl :)  Especially not primary colors... those really scare me... and NOT in a good way :)  So, I had to just suck it up and give it a shot... and this is what I came up with. I think it works pretty good, right?  I mean, I still had to get a little grungy with it... and maybe I over-did it a bit, but I thought I needed to tone it down a notch :)  I'm VERY happy with how Christian turned out!  The photos don't show it well, but the coloring worked out on this one :) Digi:   ...

HDH051 - Netherworld Nymphs... by Barb

Image
**If you are looking for Simply Betty's Back to School Emos Blog Hop , please scroll down to next post!**   Can you believe it... I made it just under the wire!  The Queen of Procrastination strikes again.  I should have already had next week's card done by now... HAAAA HAAA... yeah right. This little nymph image is from Stamp It Crazy... which is still one of my absolute faves.  I squeezed her onto a regular A2 sized card... she really needs a little more space though... no room for foof. That ribbon is about a 100 million years old and is some cheap crap from Target $1 spot or something.  But, the color was perfect... though the bow won't poof up because it's kinda crispy feeling ;)  So I topped it with another GlowSkullz embellie. Stamps:   MS182 LG Gothic w/ Branch Wings (Stamp It Crazy), Thinking of You (TAC) Paper:  Bazzill and Neenah cardstocks Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Other:   Scor-Bug , Tim Holtz edge die, GlowSkullz , c...

Simply Betty Stamps - Back to School Emos Preview Day 2

Image
Back again for more Back to School Emos?  Good... today I'd like to show you BTS Rio .  She is so sassy, blowing a big bubble and kickin' up her heels:  Check out those tenni's... oh wait, they probably don't call them that anymore, do they?!  Great... I just date stamped myself again, didn't I?  ;P I know, once again not-so-spooky... BUT I grunged up the paper, embossed some core d'inations gray/black cardstock & sanded it, AND included one of SBS's EXCLUSIVE GlowSkullz in the center of the flower!  And did you all know that our very own Macabre Minion , Creepy Glowbugg , is the creator of these wunnerful little skull embellies?  Yep, it's true... I get to have all the awesomeness that IS Creepy Glo as one of my Minions... jealous? :) Once again, those subtle little Goth skulls show up on Rio's headband, sweater and book cover... me likey :) This is my first time trying to color a bubble... needs work!  I'll be Googling how-to videos...
