Teri, don't read any further, you won't like it :P Today's FFF post is about La Isla de la Munecas, or the Island of the Dolls. It sounds like it should be full of pretty pink lace and plastic tea sets, doesn't it? Well, it's actually a macabre tourist attraction to the south of Mexico City, festooned with thousands of decomposing and mutilated dolls on display. The area is filled with canals and waterways, and in amongst these is a small uninhabited island. Don Julian Santana moved to this island in the 1950's, hoping to find peace and refuge from the modern world. However, he came to believe that the island was haunted by the ghost of a young girl who had drowned in one of the canals in the 1920's. Reports vary, but the dolls are either for the little girl's ghost to play with, or to ward off other evil spirits that roamed the area and which were scaring the little girl. Seriously, they're made from bread, not torture victims :P Now all you have to decide is whether you want your morning toast to be a crust piece or a brain piece :P

Ok, I'll admit it... this one is pretty creepy :)  I mean it must be... Poot (Eric) threatened to have me committed last night ;)  He kept muttering to the babies (four-legged with fur):  "mommy is psycho... " muhuwah ahhh ahh ahh ahhhhhhhhhh Talk about fabulous therapy.  I'm tellin' ya'... give me something to color & an edge distresser and I am happy :)  See? And have you tried Copics on kraft cardstock... it is so yummy.  You get a completely different shade of color, and it's all muted.  Fan-tab-u-lous-ness , I'm just sayin'.  It's great for darker cards, so you don't end up with a stark white image panel.  Me likey... a lot . I have had this fairy all colored up with no where to go!  I just haven't been feelin' the mojo flowin'... I'm thinkin' it's this dreary weather... ugh.  So, I tried to use a sketch... let me just say that I do not use sketches... they are hard for me to design with for some reason.  That being said, I am not happy with the card, just happy with colored image :)  So I'll include this on the Copic Creations Challenge No. 24 for blonde hair and faces/skin tones . Maybe you would have better luck with this sketch... it's over at the Smeared and Smudged forum, and it's the March Smeared and Smudged Very Sketchy Challenge .  And of course, this goes along with the princess theme here at HDH, except she's not sinister enough :) I really like how I made her sleeves look sheer and the two-toned wings. I couldn't resist doing another card for the HDH030 Hello Dolly challenge :)  Especially since a blogging buddy of mine, Melisa , sent me a couple of stamped images... with a little nudge to Goth them out a bit ;)  This one is for you, Melisa!! I also wanted to participate in Copic Creations challenge No. 24 .  I just started following this challenge blog... they have some great tips!  I chose to do Skin Tones and a Brunette Hair technique ... and maybe this qualifies for the Feathering technique , too?! Ok, so Jen is a total enabler. She sent me a link to a You-Tube video showing Martha's latest punches... as soon as I saw the web, I was hosed. So yesterday I went to THREE different Michaels stores in search... SCORE! And here's a bonus: I had 50% off coupons!!! Oh don't think I wouldn't have paid full price... I might have... I mean, I could only find one of the corner punches in stock anywhere! Yeah, I know... weird... plenty of the borders, but only one lonely corner punch... and it is all mine { muhuwah ahh ahh ahh aaaaaaaaaahh } Sooooooooo, guess I what I made last night... how's this for cuteness? I KNOW! Why else would I add the creepy little black spider confetti... had have just a teensie touch of that " uh, ewwww " ;) I grabbed a chunk-o-cardstock out of my 'big scrap' scrap pile and started playing... I must say that I wish the two border webs were the same so that I could overlap them if needed when punching them out...
