HDH135 Distressed Mistress...

Image
I'm not really distressed... because I actually got to play along with the challenge this week!  Smeared Ink was awesome enough to offer up a sponsorship, and the Minions and I couldn't be happier... thanks SI!! We tailored this week's challenge, "Pass the Distressing, Please" , specifically for Smeared Ink... their name says it all!  Ink it, rip it, tear it, file it, crumple it... you get the idea :)  Here is my offering: other details:  Tim Holtz edge die & key die, Maya Road stick pin & rose trim, Karen Foster paper I LOVE how this turned out.  In real life, the red is a true BLOOD red!  I added color with my Copics and then went to town distressing the edges & gettin' inky.  I even colored a clear crystal stick pin to match the red... me likey. I used two of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Smeared Ink images:   Skull - Quoth the Raven Plaque - As Death   Aren't they fantastic?!  These images would ...

Fiendishly Fun Friday: HDH132 Gothic Makeover

Image
As Summer is basically here, it makes me long for the cool, crisp evening air of Autumn and all that is dark and lovely.  However, HBO's True Blood is back in June with Season 5, so that is one of the FEW saving graces of Summer :)  And  since I'm already counting down to June 10th, I thought I'd go all vampish on a cute Saturated Canary digi:  Suzie Stockings   Me thinks I Goth'd her up just a bit.  I used Copic Toner Grays for the black, my favorite "dead" skin combo (BV23, BV20, C00), and for the red:  R39, R56, R37, R35.  The two papers are from Karen Foster, the glittery die-cut is from a LSS, May Arts bat trim, & who knows where the black heart brad came from :)  Did you notice I added a little rhinestone on her garter, too?  Love it. Her dress was really fun to color... all of those folds! The red is waaaay off in this photo.  Damn glitter & shimmery cardstock threw off the lighting. Krista wit...

Wretched Wednesday - Can I quote you on that?

Image
Welcome to another Wretched Wednesday !! Up first are last week's chosen ones, the Gruesome Twosome for the Evil Empire challenge. Congratulations to Crom and Kristy Lee I know both of you ladies already have the badge so, thank you for playing and we look forward to seeing what creations you will come up with next. This week's challenge is all about quotes . I am a big fan of the written word and I really enjoy a good, thought provoking, or witty little quip worth repeating. In my head, that's a good quote. I have a couple of books of quotations and many notebooks of quotes that I have enjoyed and jotted down over the years. Mae West was always good for a smart citation. I chose just one of her many zings, and matched it with this great zombie chick from Simply Betty's PCP site . I decided to keep the colors bright and cheery to give it a springtime feel despite the bloody connotations. I had so much fun with this one, that I may just h...

Wretched Wednesday - Got Goth?

Image
Ahhhh, the smell of damp, fetid earth and the slick feel of a yet to be determined globulus muck! It's good to be back! The gates to the Haunted Design House are open for business!  Kicking the year off in traditional HDH style, the challenge is, " Got Goth? ". Nice and easy... but don't get used to it! Here is my submission. It's good to be back at it again! I can feel the 'ol mojo warming up! Okay, I started off with some really cool laced dp, but can't remember who it's by (Barb?).  I used some long hoarded real lace trim from Wild Orchid  along the bottom.    This awesome image is called, Tad Batty by  Terra Bidlespacher for Sweet Pea Stamps . I added a big vellum moon as the backdrop for the image. I used Sparkling Silver mist to add texture and some dimension to the moon. I had some chipboard flourishes from a year or two ago that matched the color scheme and give the illusion of vegetation. I finally got to use my MS skul...

Wretched Wednesday HDH105 P.M.S.

Image
P.M.S. Who would have thought that mere initials would strike fear in the hearts of men? Silly mortals! This week's Macabre Monday challenge is P.M.S. - Psychotic Miss Silver . Why? What were you thinking? I kind of had a hard time with this challenge. Seems simple enough, just use a crazy chick and something silver. It took me a while, but once I found my muse (also known as "Karin" from Stampotique ), I decided to make something other than a card. Once I got "Karin" all colored and UTEE'd a few times, I mounted her onto a black card stock scalloped circle.  Then, for my ultimate destash, I used a Leeza Gibbons silver rope frame I picked up years ago at Big Lots! for a $1.00. I have two more frames in smaller sizes that may need their own Stampotique images as well. Anyhoo, a little (LOTS!) glue and some complimentary colored ribbon, and we have ourselves an orny-mint! Yay! There is still plenty of time to play along with this week's challeng...

Macabre Monday HDH090 Necro Neck Wear

Image
As soon as I heard HDH was being sponsored this week by none other than the uber wicked, Kustom Kaskets , I knew exactly what I wanted to create for the challenge. The "Necro Neck wear" challenge is to create a piece of  original  artwork that may be chosen as a new design for Kustom Kaskets , and they will also make the winning design into a pendant for one lucky wiener!!! How cool, right?!  Earlier this week, I debuted a re purposed piece of religious sculpture that turned out quite awesome. My dear friend and  fellow team mate, Andrea, popped my Zombie Buddha into an ornate frame and I must admit, I would totally rock this piece!!!        I actually did come up with an original piece of art to submit for this challenge as well. I bought this adorable little 3" x 3" canvas and easel a while back and thought it was the perfect size for this challenge. I realize it may be a bit large for an ac...
