Wretched Wednesday: Perplexing Pigment Play

We are sponsored by Bugaboo stamps this week.
Bugaboo was one of my very first digi stamp purchases back
when I started this "little hobby" of mine years ago.
I fell for the Skelekinz line via another blogger,
and I was instantly hooked on their simple designs that
lend themselves to so many occasions.
They are so easy and fun to color.
The theme is a color challenge using black, teal,
purple and lime green.

I used an old Bugaboo freebie called, flower tag
(they give away a free image every Friday),
and the cute (in a mouth less and nose less kinda way)
bare feet image. I think they work well together.

I used a circle and a scalloped circle Spellbinder,
fussy cut the tag and the bare feet girl, and then
doused it all with Stickles and Stardust Gelly Roll pen.
She strikes me as a fairy and fairies have to sparkle right?
If memory serves me correctly, most fairies are quite nasty and
can be quite the handful. Or in the case of their enormously long
and sharp teeth, quite the mouthful.
I mean if she has no mouth to terrorize or eat
the other garden residents, then the least she can do is sparkle.

Join us this week at HDH for your chance to win
7 free images (that's a $21 value!) from the

And now for the chosen.
The Gruesome Twosome from last week's
"Truebie or not Truebie" are

Killer TB mini album chock full of sexiness and
the supernatural. I'd love to pour over all the
little details and trinkets in person. Or maybe just
leave a drool stain on the Alcide page...

Mark shared his Great Great Granddad's trophy Vampire heart.
Talk about a family heirloom! Fabulous mixed media piece.

Thank you to everyone who participated last week. Even with so
many of you not familiar with (the best show on HBO) True Blood,
the entries were stunning and so inspired! It keeps getting harder
to choose a GT every week. I'd say we should change the winners
to the Gruesome Threesome, but that just sounds wrong.
And probably really ugly.

Wretched Wednesday HDH136 Calling all Truebies

True Blood Season 5 Trailer
Season 5 starts this Sunday!
Can I get a "hell yeah!"?!
Hey! I just noticed that my favorite ripped werewolf is missing
from this group shot!
Let me fix that.

There, that's so much better.
How you doin'?
Woof!
Anyhoo, I digress.
And I drool, too.
The challenge this week is to pay homage to the
enigma that is HBO's True Blood.

Here is my homage.

I had lots of elements that I wanted to use on this card.
Believe it or not, there were more bits of ephemera that didn't make it.
It's a bit much, but I think it strikes a decent balance.

I was able to use yet another of these weird bat-like brads,
and destash my ever growing collection of feathers.
I think they procreate in the jar where I keep them.
Every time I grab one, three more pop out!
I also finally broke out the weird (for me) TH Distress Stickles
in Antique Linen. It gave the aged piece a nice sheen.

I have the pleasure of sharing the spotlight with Andrea today.

Her project includes a wicked little vial of "V" and a "V" cupcake
just  for Andy Bellefleur. Yum?
Incase you aren't in the know, "V" means vampire blood.
It's kinda like Ecstasy mixed with LSD and PCP, when taken
by humans as a recreational drug.

Won't you join us this week in celebration of the
fifth season of True Blood?
There are plenty of magical and wicked characters to
choose as your muse.
Deadline to enter is this Sunday at 5PM, CST.

Now for the chosen ones.

Macabre Monday HDH136 Truebie or not to Truebie

*Please see the sidebar for HDH Macabre Monday Rules*
(Note: entries not following the guidelines are not eligible for prizes or badges)
Okay, macabre fans... your challenge this week:

HDH136
"Truebie or not to Truebie."

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that represents or celebrates the upcoming season debut
of The Mistress's favorite television show,
True Blood.
It starts up again for it's 5th season on HBO this coming Sunday.
 This pleases the Mistress.
If you aren't familiar with the show you can google clips or
episodes, but basically it's about a bunch of highly sexual
vampires, werewolves, shape shifters, mediums, and witches,
(and were panthers, too - some crazy shit huh?) trying to
coexist (or not) amongst the humans in Louisiana.
The show is somewhat loosely based on the Sookie Stackhouse
novels by Charlaine Harris.

We are joined this month by our first Guest DT
Crystal of Rustic Daisy Studio

My Bio:
I have had my hands in drawing, crafting, painting, crocheting, knitting, woodworking (have my own tools and I know how to use them) etc........ seems like my whole life.
Eons ago at the tender age of 16, I was the youngest pastel portrait artist at Six Flags over GA.
I love to paint using acrylics and have painted murals in several businesses locally....
(Our local animal shelter, Jump for Joey, etc....) My specialty is pet portraits.
I have 4 children and 5 grands. Love 'em all to pieces!!!
Still have one at home; a 13 yrs. old daughter named Harlee.
I'm a SAHM....kudos to my hubs Jeff aka Scrubby, he works hard so I don't have to....LOL

Recently I've delved into the acting world (extra in an independent film) and the bug has bitten me pretty hard.  I have a friend that is a talent agent and she thinks I can get a few gigs. So now I'm a signed actress...... (suhweet)!!!!
Heck, I've had enough practice dressing up on Halloween....its our fave holiday!!!!
I make all our costumes, from scratch or by altering pre-made items. However and whatever it takes to get the idea in my head into a wearable costume.
My fave motto is "Go BIG or go home!!!"

Fabulous first creation from the Dungeon, Crystal.
Thank you for agreeing to hang out in the muck with us
for the entire month of June.

Now let's see what the other Minions have sunk their teeth into this week.

HDH135 Distressed Mistress...

I'm not really distressed...
because I actually got to play along with the challenge this week!  Smeared Ink was awesome enough to offer up a sponsorship, and the Minions and I couldn't be happier... thanks SI!!

We tailored this week's challenge, "Pass the Distressing, Please", specifically for Smeared Ink...
their name says it all!  Ink it, rip it, tear it, file it, crumple it... you get the idea :)  Here is my offering:

other details:  Tim Holtz edge die & key die, Maya Road stick pin & rose trim, Karen Foster paper

I LOVE how this turned out.  In real life, the red is a true BLOOD red!  I added color with my Copics and then went to town distressing the edges & gettin' inky.  I even colored a clear crystal stick pin to match the red... me likey.

I used two of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Smeared Ink images:

 Skull - Quoth the Raven

Aren't they fantastic?!  These images would be perfect to use on June 4th,
which happens to be:

Skull Appreciation Day!
Get more info about SAD over at the Skull-A-Day blog

Photobucket

And Smeared Ink is doing a blog hop that day, so be sure to check it out to get your fix for everything skully >`:)

So, what do you think, stalkers?  Skulls today AND Monday... ahhh... bliss.

Wretched Wednesday "Pass the distressing, please."

This week we are sponsored by

They have offered up a very generous prize of
a $15 digi shopping spree in their shop!
The Macabre Monday challenge this week is
to use some sort of distressing on your project.
Super duper easy, right?!

I chose this little candy corn monster to work with.
He is so cute in a slobbery and chopped off head kinda way.

I am in love with this guy. Or maybe it's just his little teefs.
I used some distressed paper from a random Hallowe'en paper pack,
I added a distressed bit of the cover from a TH Hallowe'en paper pack,
and worked it over pretty good with a sanding block and the TH
distressing tool. I think I like using scissors better.
I added some cool webbed ribbon in green and black and even snuck
in that bug ribbon that I bought last season and never managed to work
it into a project.

You still have until Sunday at 5PM, CST to enter to win
a $15 digital shopping spree at Smeared Ink!!!

Now for the real reason you all tuned in today.

Last week's chosen ones for the
Long in the Tooth challenge
are:

Carol

for her incredibly inspiring Tooth Fairy!!
I am totally making one of these!!

and

Jenn

for her very "non-cute" fanged submission.

And honorable mention goes to
Katt

using every one's favorite fatal couple.

Lastly, we have the real winner of this challenge,
Lady B

Who won us over with her sibling's mouth castings.
Brilliant way to display one of life's cruelest jokes!!!!!!

Well Lady B, you are the lucky winner of
the Hamish the Scottish Werewolf sculpt from

Please contact Andrea  to claim your awesome prize,
and be sure to include your mailing address.

Thank you to everyone who entered our toothy challenge
last week! We appreciate and enjoy all of your hard work
and inspiring efforts.
We look forward to seeing what you come up with for this
week's distressing challenge.

Okay, macabre fans... your challenge this week:

HDH135
"Pass the distressing, please."

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses distressing of some sort. Get out your nail files, your scissor blades
and your distress inks! Your hands are really the best tools to crumple and rip,
and then spritz and sponge your way to a distressed masterpiece!
Distressing is also a good way to work out those aggressions
possibly left over from this past weekend's festivities.
