HDH067 - Paper Pandemonium ala Barb...

See... I TOLD you I already had it done!  I actually had finished this over a week ago :)  thankfully, because work has had me freakin' swamped!  No fun time for me, dammit :(

Anyhoo, back to today's (last week's) bit o' fun:
For my offering for HDH067 Paper Pandemonium challenge, I used three different papers from Crafty Chaos Designs.  The line is called Velvet Descent.  LOVE it!  I also used one of Susan's images called Part of Me.

The pictures aren't great... the violet looks more grapey-purple than it's supposed to look :)  And it's MUCH more blended in real life... WTF?

I LOVE the black rose trim from American Crafts.  I can't remember where the black baubles came from, and the edger punch is EK Sucess (or is it a MS?).  Oi.  Where's my head?

Well, I'm off (yeah... waaaaaaaaay off) to get some more work done.  Ugh.  Cross your fingers and cast a spell that I may find time on Sunday to announce some past winners... it's my only day off for 2 weeks :)

SBS 12 Days of Christmas - Day 2

Now let's get on to Day #2! What is Christmas without the Grinch!? Why it's just not Christmas at all! So today we are challenging you to create the best Grinch-mas project you can think of! For this one you can use any image, doesn't have to be an SBS image, but remember it always help sway the judges when choosing a winner! Wink wink!

Today's Prize:
Any 2 SBS rubber stamps winner's choice! Remember you have until Nov. 29th at 11:00 pm PST to upload your creations to the SBS Challenge blog.  And check to see what some of the DT has in store for you!

And here is my last minute entry :)

This would be Punky Teen Christmas Tristan... I really like him and this is the first chance I've had to color him up!  I paired him with a little Echo Park Everybody Loves Christmas paper.  This is the Scallop Stripe one... you can see a bit of the stripe on the left, and I used the other side of it for the background.

The skullies are from a Bombshell stamp set, the Bah humbug is a retired sentiment from TAC, and the Whoville is written, not-so-greatly, by me.  Copic markers & a little Rock Candy Distress Stickles finish this baby off.  :)

That's it for today, peeps... super simple card, but a fun one to color!

What do you think?

SBS 12 Days of Christmas - Day 1

Well, what do you say we get this Christmas party started?!  Using any Simply Betty Stamps Halloween image, create a Christmas card... anything goes, but it must be a SBS Halloween image!  Not too hard eh?  For today's prize one lucky winner will receive a choice of any 2 Digi stamps!

You will have until Saturday November 27th at 11:00 PM PST to upload your card for voting consideration.  Upload your card on the SBS Challenge blog... and while you are there, be sure to check out the rest of the DT's cards!

Here's my offering for today's challenge:
Now, you KNOW I'm down for anything Halloweenie... and Winter holiday cards are no different :)  Actually, I've been known to send Halloween cards INSTEAD of Winter cards, but that's just how I roll.

Mummy Lola was the first SBS image that popped into my head for this challenge :)  At least I gave her a more festive outfit than the usual mummy, right?

Bazzill & Neenah cardstocks, Copic markers, a little May Arts webby trim, Tim Holtz edge die, Scor-bug, a few misc. gems & an American Crafts ribbon rose were all that were needed for this yuletide card :)  The alphabet set I used for the sentiment comes from TAC called Mini-Bet.

This Lola is available in digi AND rubber form... AND everything is on sale right now!!!  $2.75 for a digi and only $4 for rubbah... and don't forget about the papers & embellies over there.  Go HERE to shop :)

Simply Betty Stamps - Sweet Gothic World Kids Release!

Surprise!  Simply Betty has a houseful of birthdays this month, so she wanted to release a new par-tay line of images!  Que Sweet Gothic World Kids :)

Betty has commissioned a new artist for this release... you can find out more by going to the Simply Betty Challenge blog.  Until then, here is the whole line:
Judy, Sally, Wednesday, Tilly, Alex, and Scott
Cute, right?  But, if you will notice the touch o' Gothiness... skully party hat, batty balloon, skully barrettes, faces with attitude... my kinda cute.

I decided to work with Wednesday & Alex... for obvious reasons :)  There are so many snarky sentiments that I will be able to pair with these two, no?!

I tried to make the top of her dress/sleeves & a bit of her tulle skirt look sheer... did it work?  I probably should have darkened them up just a wee bit more.  And I do NOT like how her hair turned out.  Practice practice practice... ugh.

For Wednesday, I tried a darker skin tone than I normally use... kinda Latina-ish, maybe?  I need more practice with it because the blush is DEFINITELY off.  The sentiment is PERFECT for this card... just sayin' :)  It's one by The Angel Company called Great Greetings.

Next up, Alex:
The look on his face cracks me up. :)  Not really in the party mode, me thinks.  How do you like the sentiment?  It should be read with very little gusto... and perhaps a tinge of annoyance.  :)

And isn't it nice that he is color coordinated with his giftie?  :)

I decided to go through my embellishments and try to use some oldies but goodies.  I have a tough time with guy cards... no ribbon or foof... so these Karen Foster brads & the Scor-Bug did the trick.

Well, that's it for today.  I've been so tired lately, so these aren't the most fantabulous of cards, but I don't hide much from you guys :)  Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's wonderful work over at the SBC blog!!

What do you think?

Fiendishly Fun Friday - parenting with a chainsaw

Two young boys watch one of the Texas Chainsaw films when they shouldn't. Finding the two huddled together in a single bed in the morning, with all the lights on, the parents decide to wake them up in a way that will probably scar them for life, but that does provide a highly amusing short video clip :P

Fiendishly Fun Friday - Poe's "The Raven"

photo from collider.com
I had no clue that this movie was in the making... can't wait to see it, as I LOVE Cusack & Poe :)  And how fitting to come across this during our Ravenous Ravens challenge week?!!  For more info,

Steampunk Annie & a CARDS blog challenge...

Ok.  It's not Halloweenie OR creepy, but I'm sharing anyway :)

Today I wanted to share a mini-card... the challenge came from the CARDS blog.  Just click the link to find out the details :)

I love mini-cards... they do not have a lot of 'real estate' with which to work, so the challenge comes from trying to foof up a pretty small canvas :)  I worked with one of the new Steampunk Gang digis from Simply Betty Stamps... LOVE them!  She commissioned a new artist that has such a wonderful style.

I chose salmon, olive & mustard as a color palette, which I think compliments the image very well.  I added lace & velvet trims along with the metal elements to add to the whole vintage steampunk genre.
I packed this little 3x3 card with quite a bit of punch, no?

Digi:  Steampunk Annie (Simply Betty Stamps)
Paper:  Bazzill & Caboodles white cardstock
Ink:  Burnt Umber Palette
Other:  MM mini-eyelets & oval pearl, Nesties, misc. lace & velvet trims, metal findings, foam tape
Copics:  E000, E00, E01, R02, R05, R08, YG93, YG95, YG97, YR20, YR21, YR23, YR24

Ravenous Ravens
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using a raven as your main focal image.  And if you would like to learn more about corvidology, folklore, & raven magic, I found THIS fabulous compilation of info by Susa Morgan Black.

Check out what the Macabre Minions have in store for your viewing pleasure...

Macabre Mistress Lynx:
Gorgeousness, Lynx... absolute gorgeousness!  Wonderful box... what is that little giftie inside?

Creepy Cricut Cween Donna:
LOVE this multi-image card!  I see Poe peekin' behind the skully... brilliant work as usual, Donna!

Digital Demon-ess Susan:
Shades of purple and black... aaaaahhhhh... so lovely, Susan!  And I am loving that raven silhouette!

Chaotic Creepy Glowbugg:

I like to call this one, "Ravens at Sunset". LOVE the fall colors!

Bite Me Butchered Blueprint :)

Woooo hoo!  Got HDH064 challenge done,  AND just in under the wire since I'll be working all afternoon/evening tonight & all day tomorrow!

I challenged myself to take one of Nikki's cute, not-so-creepy images and show it's
sinister side `:)

This digi is One Candle Cupcake from Limited Runs Stamps, and I love it.  I can soooooooo see this decked out in pink & glitter & all kinds of beautimousness...
but me likey alot this way, too!  The photo isn't the greatest... the red is a really deep scarlet blood red in real life... this looks kinda pink/red...

I used Copic markers, some rose trim from American Crafts, EK Success chain punch, MS Drippy Goo punch, So Splattered stamp (retired TAC) and Stamp Insanity's Otherworldly Loves for the sentiment.

You've still got until tomorrow at 5pm CST to play along with this week's HDH064 challenge!

11.12.2010

Helloooooo???

Is the HDH064 sketch challenge not working for y'all?  There are only 2 days left to get your entry posted!
And yeah... I know... I haven't done mine yet either ;)

11.08.2010

Ok, this isn't creepy or Halloweenie, or anything... but....

I just HAD to share about the class I'm teaching on November 30th at The Scrapbook Page in Shawnee, Kansas :)  Please pop over to my other blog for additional photos and info... thanks!

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:

Butchered Blueprint
You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using this sketch:
Yep, this is a new challenge for us here at HDH! Interpret the sketch as you like... maybe the the blood drips actually become crinkled ribbon, the skull a scalloped circle & the scythe a stick pin... endless possibilities, baby. If you could please post a picture of the sketch & link back here, that would be great :)

And this week we have another new sponsor! Nikki from Limited Runs Stamps has generously offered up three digi's to this week's winner! Be sure to page back to older posts... she has a bunch of images on there... and some of them are pretty creepy... just like we like 'em! And Nikki has even played along with us this week:

Necromancer Nikki:
I LOVE that you actually used the Grim Reaper... perfect for this sketch!
And the subject matter alone... mmmmm :)

Lynx has a sick computer, so we won't see her this week, BUT check out what the other Macabre Minions have in store for your viewing pleasure...

Chaotic Creepy Glowbugg:

LOVE this! So wonderfully creepy-cute... this would make a lovely birthday card, no?!

And check it... Creepy Glowbugg has made two for us this week... awesome! Nothing like an eyeball cuppie cake with green ooze... zombie dessert maybe?

Creepy Cricut Cween Donna:
LOL! Freakin' awesome... LOVE the sentiment with those images, Donna...
this one definitely makes me smile :)

Digital Demon-ess Susan:
What is that peeking about the 'shrooms?
Oh I am hoping for a fun story to go along with this one, Susan! Love it!

Fabulous work from my Macabre Minions... as usual!
I'll be back later this week with my offering...
... but what will YOU do with this sketch?!
