Macabre Monday #034 - Grim Gift Boxes

HDH Macabre Monday Rules:
1. Create a dark and macabre SOMETHING (card, scrap page, altered item, whatever) that follows the specific Macabre Monday challenge given. Cutesy is fine, but creepy is better :)
2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here.
3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH034.
4. Weekly giveaways!  Some weeks will be loaded with loot, others not-so-much... but the thrill is in the win, right?!  Some prizes shall be by random drawing, others hand picked... and I'm not telling you ahead of time :)
5. I'll be selecting a weekly Gruesome Twosome (my top two favorite creations) from all the players. At the end of every month these will be compiled and a Master of Macabre will be selected. He/she will be asked to be a guest blogger for the following month, if they so wish, and receive a little giftie from me... this could be stamp sets, handmade items, papers, halloweenie embellishments... you just never know.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:
Grim Gift Boxes

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween themed box perfect for housing a little giftie of some kind.  Stipulation:  you must use at least one flower!!  Stamped image, digi, paper, or a real live, dead, dried number... as long as it's a flower :)

I was away this weekend at a TAC demonstrator gathering (The Angel Company rubber stamps) and one of the late night challenges was to take an empty card box and create something with the box of paper scraps they had.  How fun was this?!  It was the kind of box with a clear plastic lid, and their scraps were awesome.  This is what I created:

The bit of green that is peeking between the weaves is actually on the inside of the lid.

The large flower was made from three scallop circles, and the little flower was made with six flower punches.  Everything is crumpled & distressed.

I also decorated the inside.  I'm thinking this would be perfect for one of the milestone birthdays when everything is supposed to be black... like the big 40 :)

Stamps:  TAC (can't remember which set... I was sleep deprived & brain dead at the time)
Other:  black paint (Plaid), scallop circle & flower punches (Marvy), misc. black brads & card box

Ok... your turn... what great little grim gift box can you create?!

4.09.2010

I couldn't take it....

... all of that rubber... sitting there... staring at me... mocking me... I cracked.

Ta da!  It was so worth it... ya' know... not getting some of the non-fun stuff done that I really need to get done :)  Isn't she awesome?!  This is one of the Goddess stamps from Elementals from Smeared Ink... me likey alot.  I almost started with regular skin tones and thought better of it... I'm so glad.  I think I'll have to buy refill ink for my Copic markers soon, but man I had fun.

I added Crystal Lacquer on the water drop tattoos, eyes & lips... o-so-shiney :)  I seriously tried to get a decent photo, but I'm telling you right now the skin shading looks way better in person.

One thing I might do next time is mask off the inked cheek area... I HAVE been know to perform stamp surgery before... cutting out elements or snipping them apart... but I'm thinking Terra might hex me if I did that :)  AND this is such a lover-ly stamp image... maybe I'd better stick to masking :)

And just so you know, I've NEVER seen a stamp sheet of rubber so damn thick before!  It is unbelievable... I'm just sayin'.  Lil' Grumpies is on my list, but I must wait until next month... dammit.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:
Freaker's Free-for-All

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using whatever the hell ya' want!!  That's right, baby... a true free-for-all... no rules... no suggestions... no limits :)  I can't wait to see the variety of entries this week... they should be off the hook!

I probably won't get to mine this week, dammit... I've got a TON of stuff to do... and ya' wanna know what sucks even worse?  Lookie at what came in the mail on Friday:

Yeah, that's right... my order from Stampotique!  AND guess what else showed up...

My awesome winnings from Smeared Ink!  I know!

So you are wondering what the sucky part is, right?  Well, I don't get to play with any of these yet :(  waaahhhhhhh

Far too much to do with little time to do it... hmmm... maybe I should call in sick...

April Fool's Day Smeared and Smudged Member Blog Hop

Happy April Fool's Day!  Is that the proper greeting?  I guess I've never really thought about it :)  Well, at any rate, today will be hoppin'... Blog Hoppin' that is!  The Smeared and Smudged online community is having a blog hop that is sure to be full of surprises... I'm not telling about ALL of the surprises... you'll just have to find out for yourself
{muhu whah ahhh ahhh ahhh ahhhhhhhhhhhh}

My project, however has no surprises... I was mojo-less for that part, so my sad little fairy must do.  I brayered & sponged directly on the card base for this one... the only additional layer is the fairy herself :)  She is so beautifully sad, don't you think?

I colored her with Copics and probably should have gone a little more dark with her to fit into the rest of the scene, but I kind of like how she is this bright little thing standing out in the middle of a dark evening.  I used a three-color feathering technique for her gown... it looks really good in person.

Stamps:  Sad Elfwood Fairy (Stamp It Crazy), tree (Tim Holtz), Edge Designs (TAC), Trendy Greetings (TAC), Fresh Air Favorites (retired TAC)
Other:  Copic markers, foam tape

And to see if you actually read all of this stuff, I'm going to be offering up a little surprise of my own... be sure to leave a comment on this post, and I'll draw a name on Thursday, April 8th after 5pm.  Now, keep in mind that this IS April Fool's Day, so the little surprise you get in the mail MIGHT be new, used, shiny, ready for the trash bin... you just don't know!  It might be dark or cute or something in between, but I'm not telling.  Sucka!

Have fun hopping through all the blogs to see the great variety and talent that Smeared and Smudged members have to offer!!!  It is such a fun community of stampers, and if you like things a little on the dark side or out of the norm, it's definitely the place to gather!  These stampers are really fun group... now, go and check them out for yourself and be sure to leave the love!

Barb ***this is me!***

A-tisket A-tasket...

... three freaks in a basket!  You are humming that old nursery rhyme right now, aren't you?!  Come on... admit it... you are going to Google it as soon as you leave here ;)  Let me save you the trouble... from Wikipedia:  CLICK HERE

Ok, back to the card... this is for another challenge from Stampotique Designers: SDC#4 - Easter.  I haven't received my latest order from Stampotique, so I only have four stamps on hand... I think 3 in a Round worked perfectly!  Please click on the photos to see them close-up.

How wonderfully springy and Easter-y... right?  ;)  I hope you can tell I was trying to create a basket handle with the ribbon.  And I went a little edger punch happy on this one.  And look... even some actual handwriting... un-freakin'-believeable.

Stamps:  3 in a Round (Stampotique), rolling alpha (Provo Craft)
Paper:  Bazzill & white cardstocks
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo & Palette Noir
Colorant:  Prismacolor pencils w/ mineral oil blending
Other:  ribbon (TAC), flowers (Archiver's & MM), MS spider border punch, EK Success edger punch, Distress Stickles (flower center)

What do you think?

2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here.
3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH032.
4. Weekly giveaways!  Some weeks will be loaded with loot, others not-so-much... but the thrill is in the win, right?!  Some prizes shall be by random drawing, others hand picked... and I'm not telling you ahead of time :)

He/she will be asked to be a guest blogger for the following month, if they so wish, and receive a little giftie from me... this could be stamp sets, handmade items, papers, halloweenie embellishments... you just never know.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:
Somber Shakespeare

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using images/sentiments from Shakespeare's tragedies.  Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet... I know he's got a ton of plays & poetry, so let's limit this challenge to the tragedies only!!  Click HERE for a list from Wikipedia.

I chose Hamlet... it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this stamp from Stamp It Crazy!  PERFECT!

I'm also using this card as another entry over at the Copic Creations challenge No. 24!  Does green count as a skin-tone technique?!!  I hope so :)  If you click on the second photo, you can really see the shadows on her face, which I think turned out pretty cool.  As did the skull... did you know that when you use the blender on the BV20 & BV23 Copics that it appears to separate the blue from the violet?!  The effect is awesome!
Stamps:  Girl with Skull (Stamp It Crazy), Fresh Air Favorites (retired TAC)
Paper:  white Ultra Smooth, black, & Bazzill cardstocks
Ink:  Palette Noir
Other:  Copics, Scor-bug, Black Soot Distress Stickles, EK Success edger punch

Ok, people... let's see some culture ;)  Break out those old English Lit. books from back in the day for a little inspiration this week!!

Are you up for it?!

HDH031 Gruesome Twosome...

HDH031 - Perilous Princess Gruesome Twosome:  Paula for her wickedly gruesome skeleton princess collage, and Barb for her beautifully colored fairy (plus the sentiment made me smile)!  Please grab the Gruesome Twosome badge from my sidebar and link back here!!!

HDH031 prize winner, whom will receive a little surprise goodie pack is:  Barb!  Yep... this time YOU get a prize :) congrats!  I'll get that mailed off to you soon!

Congratulations ladies!

Fairy princess...

I have had this fairy all colored up with no where to go!  I just haven't been feelin' the mojo flowin'... I'm thinkin' it's this dreary weather... ugh.  So, I tried to use a sketch... let me just say that I do not use sketches... they are hard for me to design with for some reason.  That being said, I am not happy with the card, just happy with colored image :)  So I'll include this on the Copic Creations Challenge No. 24 for blonde hair and faces/skin tones.

Maybe you would have better luck with this sketch... it's over at the Smeared and Smudged forum, and it's the March Smeared and Smudged Very Sketchy Challenge.  And of course, this goes along with the princess theme here at HDH, except she's not sinister enough :)

I really like how I made her sleeves look sheer and the two-toned wings.

Stamps:  FY39 Elegant Fairy (StampItCrazy), Yield to the Princess (TAC)
Paper:  white ultra smooth & black (TAC), DCWV blue, & Bazzill gold cardstocks
Ink:  Tuxedo Memento, Noir & Cognac Palettes
Other:  Bazzill Bitty Blooms, Copic markers, turquoise sequins, gems (Hobby Lobby), Diamond Stickles

What do you think?

Macabre Monday #031 - Perilous Princess

HDH Macabre Monday Rules:
1. Create a dark and macabre SOMETHING (card, scrap page, altered item, whatever) that follows the specific Macabre Monday challenge given. Cutesy is fine, but creepy is better :)
2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here.
3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH031.

Perilous Princess

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using images/sentiments of princesses.  Young or old, sweet or sinister... as long as she has got a dark twist!!

I was cleaning up my scrap pile and came across this stamped image hiding amongst the bits & pieces!  I had stamped her when I was doing THIS card.  Here she is in all of her glitteriness.

Stamps:  Gooseneck (Stampotique), Yield to the Princess (TAC)

Paper:  white UltraSmooth, basic black, & Bazzill cardstocks

Ink:  Palette Noir & Onyx VersaFine

Other:  Copic markers, EK Success edger punch, Diamond Stickles, Michael's ribbon, misc. gems

I LOVE how her eyes turned out!  That Copic blender is awesome :)  After coloring, I just placed a dot of the blender, and it forced the color to the outer edge... creepily wonderful effect.

I know you know that I'm a Torrente fan... and Gooseneck really is one of my faves!  However, I'm waiting on a new shipment... so be on the lookout for some more :)

So, are you all up for the challenge?!
Let's see some pretty creepy little princesses!

Hello Dolly... take two

I couldn't resist doing another card for the HDH030 Hello Dolly challenge :)  Especially since a blogging buddy of mine, Melisa, sent me a couple of stamped images... with a little nudge to Goth them out a bit ;)  This one is for you, Melisa!!

I also wanted to participate in Copic Creations challenge No. 24.  I just started following this challenge blog... they have some great tips!  I chose to do Skin Tones and a Brunette Hair technique... and maybe this qualifies for the Feathering technique, too?!

Stamps:  boy w/ wagon (B-line Designs), dolly (Kraftin' Kimmie), Aged Ornaments (TAC), skull (Bombshell), unknown sentiment

Ink:  Moulin Rouge, Charcoal, & Noir Palettes, Memento Tuxedo

Other:  Copic markers

The boy image did NOT have the rusty knife in his hands originally (of course)... I drew that little twisted element myself  ;)

Don't worry, Copic Creations people... I'm working on a not-so-twisted entry, too!

So, Melisa... did it live up to your expectations? :)

Macabre Monday #030 - Hello Dolly!

3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH030.

Hello Dolly!

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using images of creeped-out dolls or toys.  Toys, puppets, voodoo dolls... you name it!  Some doll horror movie inspiration:  Chucky from the Child's Play movies (1988-2004), Dolls (1987), Small Soldiers (1998).  Simply by Googling "scary dolls" or "creepy dolls", results in a plethora of disturbing links, stories and photos!

Here's MY inspiration for you... BAD dolly!  Yep... you guessed it... Barb at Stamp It Crazy has the PERFECT image for this challenge!  So cute and creepy all at the same time :)  Thanks, Barb!!

Stamps:  HAL98 Gothic Dolls (StampItCrazy)
Other:  Copic markers, Scor-Bug, Signo white gel pen, misc. velvet trim, baking thread (Martha Stewart)

I'm getting better with the Copics!  I wish you could see this in real life... the photos just don't show enough :)  The brown cardstock base has a line texture to it, and by dragging a white ink pad down I was able to get a cool look to the top.

So, what do you think... are you up for the challenge?  You know that it is good therapy to let your dark side out once in awhile, right?  ;)

3.14.2010

Two challenges in one!

Can you believe I found a spare moment to just create for fun?!!  I KNOW!  I'm so happy :)  AND this little beauty counts for two different challenges... I feel so accomplished:  Stamp It Crazy's challenge is Gothic Green, and Stampotique's Designers Challenge is Spring Has Sprung!  The chartreuse green is looking a little yellow in the photos, so you'll just have to trust me when I say it's green ;)
I just found Stampotique's Designers Challenge blog... I'm in heaven :)  Even though I can barely keep up with my own challenges, I've got to find time to stick with this one!  I've been a fan of Daniel Torrente's images for awhile now... and if there is any way possible to keep adding to my stash, I'm gonna try :)

Stamps:  Newt with Lunchbox (Stampotique), Trendy Greetings (TAC)
Paper:  Mia's Cottage, Penelope & white UltraSmooth cardstocks (TAC)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo
Other:  Copic markers, Diamond Stickles, Crystal Lacquer, Stardust glitter pen, Bazzill Bitty Blossom, In Bloom B & B, Queen & Co. plastic flower, misc. ribbon, Target thumbtack

I added Crystal Lacquer to her boots & lunchbox and glitter pen to her eyelashes & the sentiment for a little sumpin' sumpin'.  Does this NOT scream Spring?!

What do you think?

3.10.2010

If I were the Devil, these would be my shoes...

... I'm just sayin' :)  Well, THAT and if I weighed alot less than I do currently... although, if I were the Devil, I could probably make myself look ANY WAY I WANTED.  Maybe I'm more angelic than I thought... {ROFLMAO}
.
.
.

Sorry... my mind went wandering about... again :)

This little beauty is another Stamp It Crazy image colored with Copic markers.  The shoe itself has a glazing of Crystal Lacquer which TOTALLY makes it look like patent leather ;)

Well... what would you wear if you were the Devil?

Macabre Monday #029 - Oh You Devil!

2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here.
3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH029.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:
Oh You Devil!

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using images/sentiments that are little devilish in nature.  Cute, funny, or evil... we DO like the dark stuff here!   :)

This is a pretty simple challenge... and I did a super simple sample for you!  I'm not diggin' the white-ish title much.  It was SO bright that I went over it with a little red ink... both ways just don't do it for me.  If I were to do this over, I'd leave the title off altogether :)

Stamps:  HAL19 (Stamp It Crazy - scroll down a bit), This Boy (TAC), sentiment from Inkadinkado (I think)
Paper:  Scarlet, Black & White UltraSmooth cardstocks (TAC)
Ink:  Moulin Rouge & Noir Palettes, Fresh Snow (PTI)

Other:  Copic markers, Cuttlebug embossing folder, MS drippy goo punch

I LOVE the red on black embossed background... devilish indeed!  Same for the image... she's looking a little pissed off, no?  ALMOST looks like she is getting ready to flip you the middle finger... I'm just sayin' :)

I'll post the Gruesome Twosome & prize winner in a separate post this week (maybe tomorrow, maybe not!)

So, are you up for the challenge?!  I'm hoping to see some truly gruesome devil images... I'm needing to find another good one to buy for my rubbah stash :)

3.05.2010

Blog Candy

I'm offering up just a little sumpin' sumpin' over at my "normal" blog :)  Just go HERE for the deets!

3.03.2010

In keeping with this week's challenge...

Ok, so this isn't a teenager, but maybe it's a teenage cat?  Look at that face... talk about attitude... well, maybe it's orneriness instead?  At any rate, I thought I'd share a card that has nothing on it :)  I still like it for a clean & simple look... and really, it's all about the stamp images anyway, right?

Stamps:  PET32 cat (StampItCrazy), sentiment from an old GWP stamp from TAC
Paper:  Premium white cardstock (TAC)
Ink:  VersaFine Majestic Purple (super freakin' old, but super juicey... it actually turned a different color!)
Other:  clear Stardust glitter gel pen

Happy Hump Day!  There is still plenty of time to play along with this week's challenge!

2. You have until the following Sunday night @ 5pm central time to post your creation and please leave a direct-link back here.
3. If you upload to any online galleries (TACPCC, S&S, PCP, SCS, etc.), please tag the title using HDH028.

He/she will be asked to be a guest blogger for the following month, if they so wish, and receive a little giftie from me... this could be stamp sets, handmade items, papers, halloweenie embellishments... you just never know.

Ok, my little pretties... your challenge this week:
Teen Angst

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween page, project or card using images/sentiments exemplifying those sometimes not so wonderful creatures known as teenagers.  "Everyone hates me... I don't care... You suck... No, YOU suck... Now I know why some animals eat their young..." whatever!  As long as it has a Gothic or "dark" twist :)

And look... I finished my challenge card on time!!  Yeay!  This is another Stamp It Crazy image... let's face it... I love 'em :)  Look at this little bat-winged fairie... does she not have an attitude?  WTF is right!  :)  Please click on the pictures... they look better bigger... just like most things {giggling}

I've GOT to get some lighter green Copic markers... her skin turned out waaaaay to dark.  I used the blender on the bridge of her nose & for her eyeshadow... I didn't want to push my luck on trying to lighten anything else :)

And how do you like the shiny boots, wings & eyes?  Crystal Lacquer is my friend!

Stamps:  MS185 gothic fairy (StampItCrazy - scroll down a little), Playful-bet (TAC)
Paper:  Hemingway, black, & white UltraSmooth cardstocks
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo, Eggplant VM
Other:  Copics, Scor-Bug, Crystal Lacquer, black lace, & bat trim

Ok people... let's see what you come up with!!  By the way, the prize this week will be for this awesome rubber stamp from Stamp It Crazy!!!

Once again, there were SO MANY wonderful entries last week!  I definitely had to draw names from my SEVERAL favorites...

HDH027 - Gothic Asian Persuasion Gruesome Twosome:  CreepyGlowbugg for both of her dark Asian pieces (firey pagoda & the horned dude) , and Lynx for her beyond awesome altered box!  I know that both of you already have the GT badge from the sidebar... you rock stars :)

The prize winner for week HDH027, who will receive the awesome Asian image used in my challenge card from Stamp It Crazy, is... Kristen!!  And by the way, Kristen... your Copic Anime creation was awesome!  Please email me your address and I'll forward it on to Barb at Stamp It Crazy!!
