Wretched Wednesday -Homage to Hitchcock

It's time for another Wretched Wednesday project!
This week's Macabre Monday challenge is to find
inspiration with something Alfred Hitchcock either said, or directed.
He was always one for a wry quip, and don't even get me
started on his films. The man was brilliant beyond words.

"A boy's best friend is his Mother".
I have always had a soft spot for Norman Bates.
In fact, I joke around with my son about our
"Bates-like" relationship.
He likes the quote about me being his best friend.
He doesn't really get it though, does he?

Anyhoo,
I decided to show you a smattering of what might have
been for sale in the Bates Motel gift shop.

I had so much fun making all of this swag!

Now you have to have a box of Norman Bates matches.
I UTEE'd the picture on the box, but not completely.
I like the wet, droplets of water look it gives the photo.

I UTEE'd the Bates Motel sign and added a magnet on the back.
I also framed up a cool photo of Mister Hitchcock
holding the marker for "Psycho".

That photo is by far one of the coolest ones I found online.
Such a unique view of the manor with what looks like Norman
striking an ominous pose out front.
I aged it with TH Distress Inks and a sanding block.

Lastly, we have what could be used as a paper weight
and a useful key chain.
I sculpted the face of Mrs. B using the picture on the key fob
as my reference. I think she turned out pretty good considering
I didn't have the proper wool for her bun.
Hmm, maybe it's Mister Bates.
What ever happened to him?

As you can see, it is quite easy to find inspiration in the works
of Alfred Hitchcock. You can just google him and find all sorts of
stories, films, and quotes to choose from.
You have until this Sunday at 5 PM CST to enter!!

I'll be back tomorrow with the GT from last week's challenge.

Wretched Wednesday - Can I quote you on that?

Welcome to another Wretched Wednesday!!

Up first are last week's chosen ones,
the Gruesome Twosome for the
Evil Empire challenge.

Congratulations to

and

I know both of you ladies already have the badge so,
thank you for playing and we look forward to seeing
what creations you will come up with next.

This week's challenge is all about quotes.
I am a big fan of the written word and I really
enjoy a good, thought provoking, or witty
little quip worth repeating. In my head, that's a good quote.
I have a couple of books of quotations and many notebooks
of quotes that I have enjoyed and jotted down over the years.

Mae West was always good for a smart citation.

I chose just one of her many zings, and matched it with
this great zombie chick from Simply Betty's PCP site.
I decided to keep the colors bright and cheery
to give it a springtime feel despite the bloody connotations.

I had so much fun with this one, that I may just
have enough mojo left to make another card inspired
by a quote.

There is still plenty of time to play along with this week's
challenge.
Remember, it's all based on your interpretation.
You can't go wrong here.

Really late Wretchedness

I'm running a bit behind today.

This week's challenge seems to have stumped
even our most loyal and creative weekly followers.
The challenge is called,
Evil Empire.
You are supposed to choose your favorite Disney
villain and make a project using your chosen
bad guy or gal as your inspiration.
Now that can mean anything from using Maleficent's
color scheme of black and purples, to making your project
with an Arabian flair to show us the evil Jafar

I chose the absolute scariest Disney villain ever...

                                     Chernabog
(also known as Satan) is the massive nocturnal devil and the main antagonist in Night on Bald Mountain, who holds power over various restless souls. His name is taken from Chernobog, a deity of Slavic mythology; the name is Slavic for "black god". While officially a pagan god, it should also be noted that Chernabog might have originally been intended to be Satan: when "Night on Bald Mountain" appeared on the original Wonderful World of Disney, Walt Disney referred to Chernabog as "Satan himself." Deems Taylor also refers to Chernabog as "Satan" in the film.

I first saw the Chernabog in Fantasia.
I also have a Disney Villains snowglobe with the
ominous Chernabog looming from behind the globe.
I found two really cool pictures on google and kept it
all pretty simple. Primary colors are not my favorite to work
with, but didn't realize how prominent they were until I was
too far to turn back.

I UTEE'd this image to make it look like a tile,
and I used my favorite sentiment ever, the
"Heathen's Greetings" from Leavenworth Jackson.

There are a ton of awesomely horrendous villains
to choose from in the Disney archives.
Maybe a character who wasn't intended to be a bad guy
is your most detested villain. Show us!!

You have until Sunday at 5PM, CST to join in on
this challenge - if you're up to it.
I mean only the most creative and awesome crafters
may be up to this caliber of creating.

How's that for some chain yanking?

I'll be back tomorrow with the final word
on who are the winners of last week's challenge.
Stay tuned.

Wretched Wednesday - Garden of Good and Evil

This week's Macabre Monday challenge is
Garden of Good and Evil.

I wanted to make a dimensional project out of clay,
but wasn't sure which direction I should go with it.

I have been looking for a frog to zombify for months.
I was inspired by something I read on the Frog Queen's blog,
and thought how cool she would think I was if I made a
zombie frog.
Problem was, I never could find an acceptable ceramic frog
specimen for this project. So, I decided to just make the damned
thing myself!

Here is my silly clay version of a zombie frog
I'm not sure it translates well, but he is eating
a frog hand. That's his tongue wrapped around it.

I decided to make a garden background for my
amphibian of the living dead.
I used the awesome graveyard scene from
Delicious Doodles, and colored it with the
BV range of Copics. I added some Tim Holtz trees,
and some MS border punches, and then mounted it onto
black card stock.

I used vellum and glimmer mists to make the full moon.
I UTEE'd the die cut trees and used some iridescent
embossing powders to make them appear moonlit.
I used a butt load of foam dots to give this piece lots
of dimension.

I had to add a nice washing of
brown paint to give the frog some character.
Plus my son insisted on blood. I tried to keep
it on the lighter side, but it's so much fun to
add the blood - it's hard to know when to stop!

So, .....
what's lurking in your garden??

Wretched Wednesday - Love Lies Bleeding

Welcome to this week's installment of
Wretched Wednesday!!

First up are the Gruesome Twosome for last week's
Freaker's Free for All challenge.

Simple, yet very effective creepy work by Carol.

This revamped porch light shade (inspired by the mighty Cthulhu,
of Lovecraftian lore) from Pensive Pumpkin is AWESOME!!

Thank you to everyone for playing along last week.
There were so many insanely creative projects to peruse and
gain inspiration from.

Now I would like to announce the Master of the Macabre
for the month of January....
Fiona/I Don't Do Straight
Fiona, please contact Barb via her email in the sidebar
to claim your MoM prize.

Congratulations to all of the winners!!
Please grab your stinking badges and display
them with pride!

And finally, I give you my submission for the
Love Lies Bleeding challenge.

I chose to use this awesome image of Sid and Nancy
to represent my version of love gone wrong.
Really wrong.

Nancy: If I asked you to kill me, would you?
Sid: I don't know. How would I do it? I couldn't live without ya.

Now that's true love.....

So where is everybody?
C'mon, get your thinking caps on and play with us!!

and

Evil Edna

and finally, the winner of the $30 gift certificate,

Susan
Please contact Barb (email addy is in the sidebar)
to claim your prize.

Congratulations to all the winners!
Please grab your badge and display it with
deviant pride!!

A huge thank you to everyone that played in the recent
challenges! So much eye candy to salivate over!

And finally, I have my Get Lost! project
for this week's Macabre Monday challenge.

As soon as I saw this Voodoo Lady image
I knew she would be mine. Yes, she would be mine...

I took an Old World map I found on Google
and chopped it in half and distressed it.

I used both halves to layer behind my main image.
I also made my own background paper with an
ancient clear stamp of a compass and some
Sepia Versamark, some clear embossing powder,
and some Stickles.

And then for my big "step out of my comfort zone",
I colored with watercolor pencils on kraft paper.
It was fun and different to use the pencils. It seemed to
take longer, but the end result is pretty cool.
I need some more pencils, but I am not into the whole
Gammasol and baby oil blending (even more work!),
so it's cheapy Coloray or Col-erase pencils for me!

There is still plenty of time to enter
Just do it!!

Wretched Wednesday - Chic Freak

It is Wretched Wednesday!!
Are you ready to get your freak on?!

Now I can remember the very first time I set
my eyes upon a Daniel Torrente image.
I can distinctly recall thinking happily, that someone had
finally tapped into the alternative, unique, not so cute,
slightly creepy, vein of rubber stamps.
Stampotique is still one of my very favorite
stamp companies to this day, with Daniel's
images at the top of my must have list.

This week's sponsor for Macabre Monday
is none other than

The challenge is
Chic Freaks.

I started off with the awesome and versatile Bat Like Wings stamp
and my favorite little bat buddy, Batboy.
I altered him a bit by chopping off his usual party hat
and adding those killer wings.

I used some die cuts and cool word art from Ginger's House.
Top it all off with some rhinestones, and voila!
He's chic and a freak!!

But I'm not done yet!

This is my new favorite image called simply,
3 Smiles.

I decided to do some clean and simple cards
using Distress inks to "color" the faces.

I went over the eyes and the smiles with VersaMark
and then clear embossed to keep them white.

Then I used TH Distress Inks in various colors and some
sponge daubers to blend the colors together.
I left them blank until I need them for a specific reason
or occassion. It's good to have blank cards on hand.

I had a blast (as usual) creating with the awesome stamps

Rise to this week's Macabre Monday challenge
and maybe you'll be the lucky winner of a $30 gift certificate!!

Wretched Wednesday - Metal Mania

I do realize today is Thursday, and it's almost over.
Life really gets in the way and throws a temper tantrum
sometimes.
This is one of those times.

This week's Haunted Design House challenge is
Metal Mania!!
Use metal or something metal-like on your project.

I went literal and used metal embellishments for this one.

I finally used the bat Nesties that I just had to have well over
a year ago. I die cut some cool black leather-like paper and
then layered a smaller bat cut from metal mesh on top.
I used staples to adhere the mesh and then covered them with
my main image.

I layered up a few die cut tags and then stamped the sentiment
using a Paper Make-Up stamp. I also destashed this weird
metal bat-like brad. It works, I guess.

I used this great Jasmine Becket-Griffith image called,
Bat Wings.
I also managed to add Stickles to almost everything to make it
all sparkly. Sparkles make me happy.

You still have plenty of time (until Sunday at 5PM CST) to get
something metal together and join us at HDH for this week's challenge.
You know you wanna play....

Wretched Wednesday - Pumpkinhead

This week's Macabre Monday challenge is
Movie Madness: Pumpkinhead.

Now I totally grew up on the horror of the 70's and the 80's.
I remember the teenage neighbors coming home from the
theater after seeing the original Friday the 13th. I begged them for
details and then went around to all of my friends acting as if I had
actually seen the movie myself. What a little poseur. Ha!

Even though the film "Pumpkinhead" was a flop when it was
released back in 1988, it has gone on and attained cult status
in today's pop culture.

With my mojo being on reserve these days, I did manage to
come up with something kinda cool.

This is a work in progress. Hopefully, I can get it finished
tonight. The Copics that I used to color this guy with are very
sticky right now. And the markers don't blend worth a turd on this
plastic either. Hmmm. I'm already vested here, so it's too late
to start something new.

I do have pretty good turd polishing abilities, so stay tuned.

Now for a Gruesome Twosome announcement.

Last week's GT for the
Lurid and Looming Landscape
challenge are:

Valerie-Jae
and
Linda

Thank you to everyone who entered and it was nice
to see some new faces playing along with our usual suspects.

HDH102 Queen of the Damned Wretched Wednesday

It's Wednesday already?!
Man, this month is just flying by!

This week the challenge is
"Queen of the Damned".
Think royalty, crowns, thrones, and the like.
I decided to make my own Queen of sorts...

This is "Zombie Kellita" from Tickled Pink Stamps.
Really? Like you thought I wouldn't snag this little chickie
the second she went on the digi list at TP?

She's wonderful!!! In all her zombified loveliness!!
I had a blast coloring her in and giving her my favorite
YG shades of zombie pallor, and BG hair.

I used the "Bleeding Cowboys" font to set the type for
the sentiment, and mounted it on a fancy label from Spellbinders.

I topped off the undead Kellita with a random crown stamp
I had in my stash. Threw in a few rhinestones to keep her
purdy, and we are fini!!

There is still plenty of time to join in on the
Macabre Monday fun
and create your own Queen or royalty project!!
Thanks for stopping by!!
